How many times do I need to post this quote from Mosley's article?

"I talked to two players who were shocked Williams didn't show up -- especially in light of recent events. One player, a starter on defense, said that most players assume that "voluntary" OTAs will occur in mid- to late May and plan their schedules accordingly. They want to be supportive of Williams, but he's not making it easy."

It is pretty clear that players know roughly when this stuff is going to be scheduled.

I could care less about Roy doing it "my way" -- what I care about is him doing it the way his TEAMMATES want. And that quote pretty much shows that they think he needed to be there.

so it would seem that:
1. roy knew they could be in mid to late may.
2. roy went to the front office and said "hey, nothing set yet, can i take this week to go hang w/fam on a reunion cruise" and was told yes.
3. he went.
4. you're mad cause he scheduled this during a "known" event.

now.
a. it wasn't known or romo would not have scheduled something also
b. you're mad at roy for NOT canceling then, NOT scheduling something to begin with or you'd be mad at romo too
c. his boss cleared it
d. fans still make crap up and hope it sticks for their own purposes.

like i said - you're far too rigid in your "hardline" here. after all who was it that said "death or birth" then had to recant that when your own life showed a greater leeway?

hint - it was the same person who backed out and said it was silly to hold it to such rigid standards. even though you said them.

with some people, no matter what others do it's wrong. that's crap to me but you have at it.

You are just making crap up now. There is no way that you know any of that happened in that manner. Again, see what his teammates said. Perhaps he should have cleared it with those guys b/c ultimately their opinion of his is what really matters.

What the hell are you talking about? Romo canceled his golf date when he saw a conflict. Romo saw that he needed to be somewhere else. He did the right thing and was at the OTA. The HUGE difference is that they both scheduled things they could get out of. One got out of the commitment the other didn't.

As usual, you fail to read the context of the post. I was talking about Ellis' absence -- we knew that a Ellis was not hurt so that excuse is out the window we also know that Ellis is under contract so that excuse was not relevant. Given the ELLIS clearly did not have those excuses available too him I noted that all the was left FOR ELLIS was life or death excuses.

And as I noted I've missed work b/c I was sick. Where exactly do you get greater leeway? Players get injured, regular folks get sick. The only other times I noted I missed "work" were when work commitments required that I be in two places as once -- so I didn't miss work in those situations - I was unable to fulfill one aspect of my job because I was fulfilling another.

That's all paraphrased by Mosley, no direct quotes, no attribution as to who said it. The only person you're quoting is Mosley.

Has anybody thought that Ellis might have an excused absence from the coaching staff for family reasons? You'd feel stupid if his wife had a baby last night or someone in his family is seriously ill or died. Not saying that's the case but let's just not overreact.

me - my panties don't get bunched up for a player missing a walk through practice 3+ months before the 1st game is played. i got plenty of time to worry about it later when it matters. i don't care roy missed, so i don't care ellis missed. i don't think either will find a "focus" that won't be lost in the next 3 months anyway.
