The vacation thing is BS. You've got HOW many months free and clear? Maybe take a vacation then...

"But ... but .. he got the team's permission."

That's just the thing. He never should have asked, and the request never should have been granted. "Prior permission" amounts to very little if your absence is frivolous.

I've yet to think of vacations as meaningful. Aren't they all to some degree or another "frivolous." Time off from the day-to-day grind.

tough. there's a lot of things i don't wanna hear, so i'm told to NOT READ IT.

as if you can miss flaming billboards on the highway.

it's a stupid topic people held roy to and it's damn funny you only get "eh" now.

it speaks volumes of the hypocracy of SEARCHING for things to be mad about.

uneven application of rage. it's all the rage.

its not uneven at all. Ellis played well last year. Roy didn't. When Roy starts looking prepared during the season and quits underachieving in a major way then he gets a pass on stuff like this.

The rage at Roy is that he needs all the preparation and work he can get. When he shirks that then it leads one to believe that he will repeat his performance.

As for Ellis, he should be there and i am disappointed but he played lights out last year. had he not missed the first few weeks he may have led the league in sacks. As such and the fact that hes a 10 year vet and it doesnt inspire such a reaction.

Its apples and oranges.

Depends. I hate those narcissistic *******es who get the shakes if they don't check their email or voicemail every 30 minutes. Who'd want to travel with someone like that? Unless you're a healer who deals with life and death issues, chances are you're not that important.

to a degree yes. but when people LOOK for reasons to be mad at roy and say HE MUST BE THERE! ALL PLAYERS MUST!!!! it's hypocritical to say "oh yea, damn you ellis" and move on. you prop up your "argument" against roy by saying all players must be there. THAT sets a tone that you'd give the same rage for ANY player out there. that's not happening. in turn, people are now saying / changing the stance from ALL MUST BE THERE to well, ROY must be there, i don't care about the rest. it's using the point when it helps you and dismissing it when you don't. i can't do that. a point is a point. period. now my head hurts.

selective rage. no way around it. hypocritical as well. it's letting emotions over 1 player allow you to pick and choose "barriers" so to speak. one gets across w/no foul, the other is roasted for the same thing.

i can't or try not to do that. pretty simple. some people WILL do that and fine. to me that's them justifying their own hate, not being objective.

His "bosses" don't appear to care, I mean they excused him right?

But now I especially hope that you have never taken a vacation during the school year or missed work because of a reason other than "birth or death." I mean you have all these months free and clear. Birth or death should be the only only acceptable excuses for you not doing your job.

like i said, the bashers will use any point WHEN it suits the bash. when it doesn't the point is meaningless. it's pretty selective to serve a specific purpose and not real "logical" for overall arguments.

No doubt Roy did get more of a reaction but his play over the past 2 seasons has not been as stellar as they had been. Ellis on the other hand turned in the best season he has had since being with the Cowboys despite the fact he missed the 1st month of the season.

As far as I'm concerned I don't think Roy missing was any worse that Ellis missing but in the end 2 wrongs don't make it right and both guys need to be out there.

I know some will say well it was an excused absences yet the fact is the team can't make them go to these OTA and should they make an issue of it then the NFLPA would come down on that team for doing it. I guess in the end what I want is for the players to want to be there not being forced to be there. I would hate to think fans want a SB more than the players.

His "bosses" frankly can't express ANY opinion on this because the workouts are technically voluntary. You know that.

And no, I have NEVER taken a vacation during the school year. Why? Because I've got 4 freaking months free and clear to do. I've missed time for professional responsibilities (e.g., attending a conference), serious illness (fever of 103), and to attend a funeral. So sorry, you are barking up the wrong tree with me.

granted. then the critique should have been "roy needs every opportunity he can get to focus" and that's hard to argue.

but it's stupid to then follow that up with ALL THE OTHER PLAYERS ARE THERE! cause than in turn changes the focus and the reason FOR being upset with roy.

why? because it's obvious they don't CARE if all other players are there because they may not need it or are playing fine and don't whine to the media. so why make that a "prop" for your argument when you can just as easily dismiss it? that's what's being done. poo-on-the-roy and what sticks matters the most what doesn't was just an attempt to see if we could make it.

ALL PLAYERS MUST BE THERE!

till others don't show then it's ROY MUST BE THERE BECAUSE OF...where it should have been to begin with.

when you use stupid ways to prop up your argument it tends to fall apart on you due to lack of focus on the issue. you LOOK like a hater when you "throw crap on roy to see what sticks" and that's what's being done.

if it doesn't stick big deal. i still hate the dude. or i still want him to play better. or i want him to have his heart back. but no accountability for just lobbing crap is ever taken cause roy is so much fun to hit anyway. and if one missed, big deal.

many of us are just tired of all the crap-lobbing, that's all. just to see what sticks so some can find justification for the anger at roy.

it's justified. people are just now "overjustifying" it and it in the ends takes away form the point.

roy is at a crossroads. no one will deny.
some of us are willing to watch and see where he goes.
many are willing to push him because they already know the ending. now to justify this - lob crap on a wall till something sticks then pretend all the other stuff doesn't matter, only what stuck.

that's what's so frustrating about all this to me.

have we not all learned in life that we are in fact all different? is that hard to dispute?

now given that we're different, not everyone is like you but you seem to put that as a measuring stick for the rest. wouldn't it suck to have people say "well i do slack and YOU MUST SLACK to meet MY standards"?

or should we just realize we all different and not get so bent when we see it in action?

So first it was "you hypocrite" and now it is "use different standards to evaluate people?"
