The comments by these two players are very disconcerting to a lot of dedicated hand wringers. How dare they!

I'm curious. Do you have any comment about Romo's quote?

I'm saddened that he played the "us against the [strike]world[/strike] media" card. I thought he was mentally tougher than that.

Any thoughts on those two staying after practice?

I would hope so. Any rational person would put in more time to get better and earn the millions they're being paid. It's part of the job description. Of course, we've heard this song and dance before.

Romo: Cowboys core too strong to be divided

Quarterback Tony Romo fielded several questions about his inability to click with Roy Williams. After answering two of them, he was asked why he believes Williams' numbers are so low.

"I don't look at the numbers,'' Romo said. "I don't know what would be good numbers and what wouldn't be.

"You know, we've been through this before with people trying to intersect and divide us as a football team. This team is too strong from the core.

"I know the media is going to make certain things appear what they may not have actually been or things of that nature. This team is too committed to winning and too committed to improving to let anything like that or anything you guys may present to us divide this team.

"We're just going to keep improving and getting better and we'll be ready to go this weekend.''

Roy Williams, Tony Romo throwing after practice

In an attempt to jump start their production, Roy Williams and Tony Romo stayed late after Wednesday's practice to improve their on-field chemistry.

"We worked extra after practice yesterday and we're going to do the same thing today," Williams said. "That'll be our trend for the rest of the year until that light switches over."

That's a good thing but I know some people will say, Why haven't they been doing that all along? Big deal. It's important that they recognize it now and they're doing something about it. Much has been made about what Williams said Wednesday - too much in my opinion - and some have painted him as another Terrell Owens.

"I'm not saying it can't be fixed," Williams said. "That's what we're doing. I'm not a T.O. I'm not trying to be a T.O. I'm happy to win. I've said that a hundred times. I don't understand why people don't say, 'OK.' I'm a football player, and I'm trying to get this thing working."

Romo on Roy Williams: it will come

Since we've all been sucked into the why doesn't Roy Williams catch more passes vortex, here is what Tony Romo had to say on the subject Thursday.

"You've just got to keep working,'' Romo said. "You just have to keep getting better and keep throwing footballs. That's part of anybody's quarterback-receiver position.''

Romo has completed 61 percent of the passes he's thrown to Miles Austin, 52 percent to Patrick Crayton and 38 percent to Williams.

"Sure, there are stats like that you could have made up last year for somebody else on the team,'' Romo said. "Every year, it's always going to be something. He can go on a tear the next five or six weeks and it will be a new story then. He's working hard, he's doing a great job in practice. It will come.''

And how is Romo's relationship with Williams?

"It's good,'' he said. "We have a good relationship. He cares about the game and is out here practicing hard.

"He's getting better every time he steps out there, and that's all you can ask.''

I'm just glad to see them still trying to get on the same page. I watched Roy play for Texas and thought he would just shine when he got here but so far, boy have I been wrong. I think the biggest difference is Tony has been throwing to Witten, Austin, Crayton and Hurd for 4+ years. He knows them and they know him. I think the reason T.O. and Romo got on the same page so fast is because he forced a lot of passes his way and the timing between the two progressed a lot faster. I really believe the chemistry between the two will work itself out within the next 2-3 weeks. I could be totally wrong but that's just my two cents.

I really believe the team won't let outside influences stop their progress like it did last year. I really believe we are starting to see the changing of the teams attitude right before our eyes. Now will it continue??? Who knows but I like what I'm seeing and reading.

He played the card that he should have it is Dallas Cowboys vs the media and critics some who call themselfs fans. After all the crap Romo has gone through why should he not feel it is us aginst them? People sit there looking for any and every thing they can to rag on Dallas and players like Romo.

Are you familiar with the yankee payroll?

Yeah ask the Commanders how just buying up players, and large payrolls, has worked for them in the championship department.

Payrolls don't win you championships. Guys playing together as a team, as one, is what gets it done. A group of high priced, even elite high priced, players will not win a title if they are playing as individuals rather than one unit.

As for the OP I'm thrilled to hear that they're working even more together right now to fix things. I'm quite happy for the better late than never idea. I also love the way Romo has handled this situation. That's the way you handle this junk.

And some so-called fans are in permanent "no big deal" mode, no matter how a player behaves, talks, or performs. If you have a star on your helmet, you're pure as the driven snow. Everything that comes out of Tony's mouth is the God's honest truth. Mac, conversely, is a dirty rotten liar (facts notwithstanding). The fix is always in.

If you want to make more out of this than there is that is your choice, others around RW have said it was not like you are portraying it. I was not there nor were you but you say well it not being on film does not mean it did not happen true it also means it very well may not have been exactly what has been reported.

Do reporters exaggerate you bet they do, do they approach stories from certain angles to get the story they want? all the time. RW and Tony are doing what they need to do that to me is what is important more than anything else. The rest is drama BS that you and some other agenda driven critics cling to.

Is it possible that he made up a long, very specific quote out of sheer, inexplicable malice? Sure, in the same way that Jerry relinquishing his GM duties is theoretically possible. Both are highly unlikely, however.

I don't see anyone saying he made it up. It's obviously a direct quote. An injudicious use of words. Yes. Does he wonder why everyone else is getting the ball delivered to him and he isn't? If he's human. Did he blame anyone for it? No. He said he didn't know why but it was obvious they weren't anywhere near being on the same page.

Now you choose to put that into your agenda and you're now distorting things to fit it. Roy's non-verbal language showed me frustration but no blame. That's how I see this. Romo stated they were making it an issue which they are trying to do and he snipped it in the bud. And said he and Roy had a good relationship, were working on the problem and was confident that it would be repaired.

What else do you want? A lie detector test? Juicy behind the scenes third party information to confirm your delusion?

Open your eyes.

Now here comes the "you open your eyes remark".

You being a Yankee fan and all and us winning the WS. I would just like to say and I believe you can verify this.

The difference in this Yankees team and winning this year wasnt really about the players they brought in.

It was about the way this TEAM gelled and fought for each other. A tightly woven group.

If the Cowboys get there and I believe Romo is possibly headed in that direction then we can do ALOT... maybe even win it all.
Excellent point.

I'm glad Romo came out and nipped that thing in the bud.

I don't like Roy Williams' production and I don't like his insecurity. But I don't think he's bad for this football team nor do I think he's a guy who will rip us apart.

Eventually, this thing will get going and I think we're going to be very happy to have Roy opposite Miles Austin. I'll leave it at that.
