DMN: BLOG: Roy Williams: 'Wide receivers... were terrible today'

I'm not comparing High School to Pros by any means, but our local High School team here who has a high octane offense, had mini's the other day and there offense sucked badly.

I personally think that the offense takes the longest to get ready for the season, but once it's rolling, it's rolling.

This is not good news but that is why practice is conducted. We have a long time to clean up some things provided that the talent is there.

Well put. It is NEVER good that you're not clicking, but come on now, its freaking June.

I'm not worried at all.

#1 I corrected my post before you responded

#2 you have no point.

Exactly. His only point is that he's a hater of Roy Williams and will bash him in every thread where he's mentioned. The attempt to link changing jersey numbers to being a bust is absolutely imbecilic... a 2 year old could have backtracked to justify their response better.

I want them to click in December and January.

I'm really not worried about this stuff.

Isn't that against UIL rules?

Every time I think we start to turn a corner as a fanbase...BAM...right between the eyes.
the same fanbase that gave us a 10 page thread about Drew Henson holding the ball backwards?

****H.

Did that really happen?

wait, now I am really confused.

I have a football in my hand, and I can't figure out which is the front and which is the back?

I keep hoping that some of the dumb ones will pay attention to the smart ones (and we have a lot of those) and learn something.

I guess I really am an optimist.

If Romo and Roy had a great practice together, would anyone have brought it up? I doubt it. Since Roy is discusisng it, I'm glad he can honestly say when things need to improve. Denial would be something to worry about.

well said....

offense is the hardest unit to gel.....and in OTAs they are teaching playbook and learning new plays...its not gonna be crisp........and the report is that all the WRS, QB , O-line and TE were all off so why is everyone going after just RW?....oh yeah i remember

Oh yeah. Those threads were great.

People were debating his throwing motion off a still pic.

Lmao...I vaguely remember that. I think that was right around where I joined or started posting.

Ironically, I remember the crowd here being more stable then than it is now. Maybe not.

It wasn't that stable. Most of us were just latching on to any nibble of positivity we could get...

Let's see, you joined in 2005. Yeah, you missed all of the QB threads.

I missed most of the QC vs Hutch wars.

I joined when it was QC vs Henson.

Henson vs Romo

Vinny vs Henson vs Romo

Bledsoe vs Henson

Bledsoe vs Romo

I think we're now: Romo vs the league

It isn't that hard to do.

Guess which side of that I was on.

The continued media reports of Roy Williams and Romo not connecting are alarming. I can't be the only one that sees it. I'm not nitpicking or instigating... I'm just bothered by the fact that the WR we gave up so much for is still not getting it. Last year.. Sure. He came in during the season. Let's write that off. He had all off season to "get it". I thought he and Romo were spending lots of time together during the off season... Why aren't we seeing that progress? If two professionals spend that much time together during down time there is normally some level of crispness between them. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer. I'm just a bit concerned over the continued media reports of disconnection between the two...

Feel free to do what you do Hos. I'm sure your defensive feelers will jump out of your head when you finish reading this post......
Have you ever considered NOT calling me out? Just a thought. Feel free to play the victim card yet again.

Ok, I want to take this thread a little different direction.
Educate me.
Let's just say that our WR corp do have some problems the first half of the season. Are our RB's and TE's good enough to get us though the first half of the season, with a decent W-L record?

I think the talent is there.

I think that if the WR corps falters for any reason, then the pressure will be more on Garrett to manufacture an effective offensive game plan.

you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not a hater of Roy. my point was more of a joke but the homers i guess didn't find it funny. Roy #31 started to suck and than changed his jersey # last season to his college number. last year though not completely his fault Roy#11 sucked and is now wearing his college number. i'm not linking his number changing to the trade being a bust. you read something than got all defensive like a scared little girl.

He's only wearing that number in practice. He can't wear 4 in a real game, its against the rules or otherwise he would have worn 4 in the first place. Deion Sanders did the exact thing when he played and wore 2 in practice because rules kept him from wearing that number in games.
