I don't even need to see all that detail either. The fact is, the team became much, much better under his watch. We can pick and analyze each player, who did what and who wanted who, but the fact is, he made this team much stronger than it was and in a relatively short period of time.

I mean, don't you remember?!?! I realize how dark and nasty those days were and I too have tried to eliminate them from memory...but I can't. For God's sakes, I can't! :laugh2:

Parcells has always made his teams much stronger, is this always just a coincidence or luck? I think not.

Phillips hasn't done JACK yet. That's a fact. Why on earth are some of you so willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt and suggest that Parcells never would have gotten this team over the playoff hump and/or into the SB? That just doesn't compute!

All I did was mention 3 big addition in FA I said nothing about Parcells hell he had nothing to do with Davis coming to Dallas. After seeing the drafts and the comment about how we had a drastic improvment all I said was we added some key FA that have really panned out for us. What is your problem? I had nothing bad to say about Parcells so get off your high horse

I have a feeling you are right. I think that was more of a Jerry move but one that Parcells was not going to fight against.

I think the only reason Parcells didnt fight it was because he knew he was going to retire if they didnt win and was gonna try anything to win and if anything bad happened with TO Parcells would have then threw Jerry under the bus.....something about groceries...ya know

Sheesh, I was referring to dadymat's post and I didn't even mean anything nasty by it -- just pointing out that yes, there have been hits and misses, but all one has to do is take a look at the overall product to know that he made this team far better, despite his occasional miss in the draft or loyalty to his own players.

Sheesh, paranoia will destroy ya! :laugh2:

You addressed my posting so I don't think I'm being paranoid.

Because I was supporting what you were saying about Parcells bringing in some good FAs too -- man, even when I'm nice I get my head chewed off. :laugh2:

And again, I don't even like Parcells that much. But I know he made this team much better. And I know the jury is still very much out on Wade. I know that much.

Jury is still out on Wade, but he did what Parcells could not do, not just have success w/basically the same players but flat out dominate other teams at times. Yes, Wade still has to win a playoff game, but so did the lord is our saviour, Parcells.

I would rather have an ego problem than a conservative coaching style holding the players back/sky is always falling problem. Under Wade, players just got to play now.

Uh, no he didn't. He inherited an incredibly talented team that Parcells and Co. put together. Wade got to implement his schemes, but he has had nothing to do with the makeup of this team, nor the way they developed as players. And again, I'm not saying Parcells is immune to all criticism, but he built this team into what it is today.

Same as Norv Turner in San Diego. Great offensive mind, but has never proven he can fit the bill as a head coach. With these two guys, you have a window of opportunity that allows them to use their schemes with incredibly talented players, but if you don't get it done in a year or two, their ineptitude as head coaches will start to show. At least, that's what their track records have shown so far. Sure, there have been examples of coaches failing big time in their first go-around and becoming successful at another stint (Bill Belichek with Cleveland and then with New England), so we'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, Wade becomes the next Bill Belichek this time around.

One other thing to bring up about "Wade's loss" last year in the playoffs and Parcells comparisons.

It was AFTER Parcells had already offered the Dolphins Head Coaching job to Tony Sparano.

Yeah, that's right, he was meddling. Trying to tear this team apart from afar. :D

Yeah, and Sparano probably accepted the job while he should have been focused on his current team. He is a back-stabbing traitor and must be put to death. :LOL

In all seriousness, good move by Sparano. Obviously, becoming HC is a promotion, but he gets to be the image of the Dolphins while Parcells secretly builds this team from behind the scenes, which will only build his cred as a head coach.

Seems like the HC community in the NFL is a tight circle, once you have some success somewhere, you can write your ticket. Sean Payton is a perfect example, I don't care if he fails miserably for the next three years at New Orleans and ultimately gets fired. Because of his one year of success in 2006, with what looked to be a pretty bad team, this guy will always have a HC job waiting for him somewhere. He'd have to fail at like two or three more HC jobs before the well ran dry.
