DMN - Crayton "Now we're contenders" - 6/04/08

am i alone? do they not both shoot off their mouth? do they not both function as a #3 WR?

You're not alone.

They're both average receivers who talk like Hall of Famers.

And they're both embarrassing to their teams.

it's not black/white to make a comparsion - it is butt-nugget stupid to say we have no leadership on this team with the exception of crayton.

to date you've yet to say that i've seen how romo, to, witten and barber are as leaders. you just say it takes all kinds and keep blowing smoke up craytons choclate starfish.

Those guys you mention do "lead" -- but clearly none of them has gotten us anywhere in the playoffs. Again, are you satisfied with the level of leadership they provide? No. We need more leaders and PC is stepping into that role. You don't like it? Fine. I expect if his teammates don't like it that one of the leaders would have told him to shut up by now. By PC's actions, we can expect that hasn't been the case.

What he says is nowhere near the absurd crap that Mitchell said. You know that.

Crayton talked all year and played well. He did back it up. He had one bad game.

Yeah a pretty big game.......Heroes and legends are made in the Playoffs not playing against the St-Louis Rams, when half the team is hurt... Please admit this guy crapped his pants on the biggest stage for him so far....

He had a decent season for an NFL journeyman.

He didn't back anything up.

And his fell flat on his face on the biggest stage of his life.

and how exactly do you know who is following who?

again, it takes all kinds and we haven't had enough of any kind.

you jump on people for blaming Crayton for the playoff loss but then you jump on him for saying something like "we are contenders" - that's some very mild stuff coming out of his mouth to get slammed for dontyathink?

iceberg;2106637 said:
same way i know you know people are following him around going "gosh, patrick, you inspire me..." how come you can speculate his leadership but i can't speculate his mouth?

now before we dive off into idiocy, show me where i jump on people for blaming crayton for the playoff loss.

abersonc;2106646 said:
you've been defending PC for months on the board over his drops -- I totally agree with you on that issue and about him being a decent #2.

it is A "drop" that i say people put too much WAH in. i think they overstate how "bad" he is cause they're frustrated he dropped something he SHOULD have had.

yes he should have had it.
no, he didn't.
that doesn't negate an otherwise good career to date (to me)
but that doesn't give him carte blanche to be punk-boy stupid either.

just because i don't rail on crayton for dropping ONE pass, i don't defend him either for the MANY stupid things he says.

you're putting things together that don't belong because YOU want them too. since that's your MO, i'm moving along now. somewhere out there is common sense to talk to and i'm just not finding it here.

have a day and polish up that crayton statue in the living room. hope you get the fountain working again.

When it mattered most.

TO and Romo had pretty mediocre games when it mattered too. They didn't "put up" -- does that mean they shouldn't be looked to as leaders?

Hey, Patrick Crayton became really obnoxious after he got married during the season.

Maybe she's part of the problem.

and crayton did drop the one pass that could have gotten us somewhere in the playoffs. did that thrill you?

i am satisfied with their leadership FAR AND AWAY more than craytons mouth and choking at a critical time.

all you're doing is pushing people away from crayton cause of your own insistance crayton is more than he is.

crayton "talked" (to you that would be "led" long before he dropped that ball. so his "leadership" didn't get us anything either.

it's a team sport. i'll take romo, to, witten and barber as leaders long before crayton. if you wanna say they didn't succeed but crayton's style will, fine. go be alone now while the adults finish talking.

Don't you think you should give him the opportunity to respond to that game and see what he does with it? As long as the guy keeps improving every year and is a good value for the team at a position of need, what's not to like?

I cant help it I really dont like this guy.............but I hear ya. We will see what he does this year

we all have players we don't like. i just get irritated when people let that "dislike" make something matter more "for" that dislike vs. still try to be fair.

You're grasping for the life-preserver now. :laugh2:

We all saw how Owens played in his only Super Bowl appearance, playing on a cracked leg.

And Romo is the guy who was scrambling for his life and managed to put the ball right in Crayton's hands. He has played well enough in the clutch over the course of two seasons to solidify his standing as a guy you can count on.

Wow, a bit hypocritical from the guy who criticized me for saying this...

since when do grown up start off replies with "shut up"?
...
much like saying "shut up the adults are talking".

Again, it points to the absurdity of the "didn't put up" statement. Crayton was huge for us during the season. He put up all year. You can say "when it mattered" but to say his regular season performance "didn't matter" ignores how we even got to that playoff situation.

1. i didn't "start off" by saying "shut up".
2. i did not tell you to shut up - just go find other kids who need patty-the-wonder-mouth to look up to. my guess is you'll be alone.

if crayton flicks your jiggits, great. but right now you just look like someone who's polishing up 15 minutes of fame by saying stupid crap on an island with no one else around to even remotely agree.

is crayton a valid leader on this team to anyone outside YOU.
all i hear are crickets.

have fun being alone while the adults talk.

better?

They didn't 'speak up' like Crayton did either.

Keep trying.......

So you have an ear to the team and know who the players see as a leader? Again, if the players don't like it a leader should tell him to shut up.

If you want to continue to split hairs over how you aren't a hypocrite fine. I'll leave you and Ilovejerry to have an adult conversation.
