That is a big reason why Atlanta dealt Favre to Green Bay a year after they drafted him in the 2nd round. The party scene was too much for young Bret in the ATL.

Buckhead in those days was like Bourbon Street it was awesome!

I still can't understand the outrage caused by a young man that enjoys the party scene. He would a normal kid if he didn't play in the NFL and he hasn't done anything as bad as the players on the 1990s teams.

I get where you are coming from and usually agree with this type of thinking.
Its a little different with Manziel because he spent so much time in an alcohol rehab clinic trying to turn his life around.
When this is the decision you need to make then things are very out of control. Not just simple partying.
Now to give him the benefit of the doubt, I don't believe he has to avoid any parties or social situations for the rest of his life. Its just the media will eat up any report of him partying.

I am not against him coming to dallas due to partying....I have never been a huge fan of his game and how it would translate to the pro level. He made his name playing street football. Not exactly a pro style QB.

I do agree that the situation can be overblown. There have been plenty of NFL players, including quarterbacks, who loved the nightlife. However, the spotlight shines brightest on them to show leadership in that position and Manziel is showing a lot of immaturity.

His best bet would be to stay out of the spotlight until he establishes himself as a leader and player. If he accomplishes that, no one will care much about his partying proclivities.

While I agree in principal the fact is being an nfl QB demands you don't do what other twenty somethings are doing
That's just the reality

It is a big deal when you miss team meetings or you miss Dr. appointments expecially on concussion protocall. He lied to his employer twice on his where abouts. This guy just doesnt get it, however a part of me believes he has done most of this to get out of Cleveland. This was not the way to go about it but it worked.

You answered your own question. He's a rich young kid with a job only 31 others have. Have to grow up quick under those circumstances.

Maybe. But it's also apparent he doesn't care about his job or an employer that paid a hefty price with a 1st round pick and paid him millions of dollars and took a risk on him.

This is a different age. With social media abound, he had to do one thing. Stay off TMZ and take his job seriously. He couldn't do it. He looks like an immature, irresponsible kid when he goes to "rehab", tells his boss one thing, then blatantly violates their trust in him with absolutely no regard for his employers image.

He's not a man. He can't be trusted. And when it comes down to it, he's made it very apparent he's going to do what he wants at the expense of his employer and the team.

he plays a position that requires you to basically be a field coach. He has shown repeatedly that he shouldnt be trusted with any responsibility. Touching the ball on every play counts as responsibility.

No-no wait....a normal party kid in Dallas Texas? However....the Cowboys can hang tough.

:espn:

Day by day there is/have been definite, proven consequences here with the likes of examples such as Erik Williams, Hollywood Henderson, Michae Irvin, Joseph Randle ect. .. and with Calvin Hill to infer, 'Johnny (not) Unitas' could be CHA-CHING in Dallas.

Plus if Manzeil fluffed up here he'd be done.

I've always thought that the fact he's playing for the browns definitely plays a part in him not giving a ****. Probably wants to get released because he knows Dallas would be all over him and Dallas was where he wanted to go all along. Kid may def have a drinking problem but the way Jerry cares for players I bet he'd get the help he needed here and it would stick. I think at this point it's not a matter of if its when and at what price will he end up in Dallas

Dallas fans can't even tolerate Romo GOLFING for crying out loud. Imagine Johnny Football in Vegas or night clubs all the time.

Believe it or not, but I am not a big fan of his either. I do think his mobility would help this offense and that is something that these other QBs hasn't been able to do. I think he is worth trading for if he comes cheap. The explosion by Cowboy fans would be priceless IMO. I just hope he doesn't snort coke and wear fur coats like Irvin did during the 90's. The entertainment factor that would come from many of these fans would be priceless.

Maybe the fans need to loosen up. After all, Jerry drinks quite a bit and Johnny can join him

I actually wonder why some of you don't get why it's NOT a big deal.

QB goes to rehab for a drinking problem. Gets out of rehab, continues to drink, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend in a drunken rage. He then gets benched because of his off the field actions, a few weeks later, he's spotted at another party.

He has problems. I await the DUI pictures that will pop up everywhere once he pushes himself out of the league.

I'm all for bringing him in with a cheap trade but man this guy is throwing away his shot in the NFL for partying and alcohol. I'm not against that stuff at all and usually see it as something not to worry about but he's got a real problem.

Exactly. The QB is the most important player on the field and gets a huge chunk of change once they establish themselves as anything more than mediocre. You flat can't trust your franchise to a guy who can't control himself.
