What the heck bring him in. I still think Randle is our bell cow and DMC is our 3rd down back. He can fight to be earn 3rd back spot.

A few years too late.

It's too late for him, but not McFadden? They came out in the same draft. (Granted, Johnson has more wear and tear because of McFadden's injuries.)

A few years too late.

He was drafted in 2008. The team would be nuts to sign any running back who is old enough to be from the 2008 draft class... most of those guys are already out of the league.... ;-)

If anyone is curious, he is 29 years old and last season was the first since his rookie year (2008) that he fell short of rushing for over 1000 yards.

But he was on a bad team and only carried the ball 155 times which is over 100 less carries than any other season. He has also only missed 1 game since 2008, that is pretty impressive. I think he still has enough in the tank to produce. Especially with our oline.

No thank you. Guys at his age, especially one like CJ, are more into for the money at this stage of his career. He is much more likely to make a business decision over a young, cheap, unproven guy who will literally run through a wall to stay on the team.

Like the underwear thief Randle? Or Ryan Williams.. the guy who has played in only 5 games since 2011?

I am all for upgrading the position. I think Randle at best is a capable backup. I hope I am wrong. Who knows about Ryan Williams. Looked good in preseason. But there is a graveyard of running backs never to be heard from again who looked good in preseason.

I just wouldn't sniff around Chris Johnson. He hasn't passed the eye test the last few years. And bringing him in at a low salary, I think is a a recipe for disaster.

DMC's spot is secure because of what he adds on 3rd down. Barring injury, he's not going anywhere.

Hasn't passed the "eye test?"

He averaged 4.3 YPC for 150 carries with a team that had virtually no passing game.

S. Jones has said that they will continue to look at RBs in free agency. Look for a move after May 12th when signing someone won't mess up our comp picks for next year.

Interesting. Though I thought Chris Johnson was cut by the Jets.

I don't understand. Why is bringing chris johnson in at a low salary a recipe for disaster? He could be cut at anytime for little consequence.

I agree with another poster that if they do bring in CJ they might decide to do it closer to training camp
as not to mess up the extra picks they are going to get in next year's draft.

Is he the guy that got shot in the shoulder earlier this off season?

Yes he'll fit right in. You know now that you have to have some sort of arrest record to make this team. Rumor has it Romo was caught throwing a brick through the local Dallas police station window to qualify. Unfortunately they let him off with a warning. Poor Romo can't catch a break.
