News: DMN: Gosselin: If Cowboys have top-five pick in draft, here's two positions they should...

I said every year the Cowboys won the Super Bowl they had a dominant RB.

Someday you will realize that statement means absolutely nothing. Especially since the last time that happened was 20 years ago.

There were plenty of years we had a dominant RB that we didn't win the Super Bowl either.

Show me one year that the Cowboys won a Super Bowl without a dominant RB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you can't you will realize it means a lot !!!!!!!!!!!

There aren't any RBs or WRs in this draft that I would even think about drafting with the 5th overall pick.

Now, if we trade down to 18 and pick up an extra 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, then that's a different story.

The type RB and WR we need, along with a developmental QB can all be had after round 1.
We need a stud at DT; we need LB; we need either a starting CB or FS so Jones can play the other spot.

We don't need just any DT...a stud DT that draws double teams would unleash our DL.

What the Cowboys did winning their SBs is a very small sampling. Look at the RBs for all SB champs, but look at modern times as well. While Pittsburg had Franco Harris in the 70's, plenty of SB's have been won by teams without dominant backs. NE has never had a dominant back. There's a lot to be said for a QB who gets the team into the right plays at the line. I have no doubt we will try to draft a RB this year, but I'll also say that with Romo, McFadden would already have his 1000 yards. We won't draft a RB in round one, however. Only one or two positions can be a priority, and in my opinion, DT and DB are both higher priorities than RB.

Ancient history. You can't deny what I said was true.

Oh I forgot...

There is also no QB in this draft worth a high pick. If we should really pick at #5 to me its a no brainer to trade down and pick up maybe a #10 plus another first rounder.

How does the trade value work? How many spots does a team have to give up a 1st round to move up? Or is it just by negotiations between the 2 teams?

Just get someone who can play. That should be priority #1. They get 3 cracks at the top 70 to 75 players, and they can't afford to waste them because certain positions don't "require" such an investment.

Bullocks. Outside of OL, the team isn't so ripe with talent that any positional group should be taken off the board.

I absolutely agree with him.

they need playmakers.

Most of the playmakers are on the defensive side of the ball.
The new narrative is dont waste a 1st round pick on a RB because you can get what you need in the later rounds. People accept it as if its true.

We heard all off season how bringing Murray back wasnt necessary and we'd be just fine pluggin and playin any ole RB behind this OL. Even to the point of we'll be fine with a 5th round knucklehead underwear bandit who wouldnt leave so much meat on the bone.

If a guy is true difference maker at RB he is well worth a high 1st round pick. We might find our next #22.
McFadden is on pace for 1K this year so they can put someone else behind this line, the problem is their star QB & WR missed too much time. People really need to let this Murray crap go, especially since he's been benched in PHI.

We got Dez and he ain't going nowhere. QB in the First. RB in the second. Keep it moving foward.

Just negotiated. You cant just choose to move yp or down.

We need so much I have no idea where to start. There are very few impact players on this team on either side of the ball. The only place we are above average is our number 1 Wide Receiever, our O Line and perhaps our DE's. Every where else we need better to be considered elite. Heck the Raiders have a better roster top to bottom then we do.

No way I would use a top 5 pick on a RB. That's insane. And this crop of QB's isn't elite. Epic fail by Goose on this one

I agree RBs are a dime a dozen. Give me a DT, CB/S (puke another highly drafted DB) or QB

Id rather go dt or lb over any kind of db in the first round. I want elite in the front 7 and the ill take "good enough" in the secondary.

Well, I know that. Lol. I just didn't know if there was chart or something that dictated how much a team had to give up.
