Huh? There could be no such thing as a third-round tender for Austin. It was either NO compensation, a second-round tender, a first-round tender or a first-and-third tender. The team chose the lowest tender that would allow us to receive some compensation if we lose him.

My bad, I thought there was a 3rd. Must have confused it with the 1st and 3rd.

Thanks for calling me out.......:banghead:

If we lose Austin, our WR core is the following:

Roy Williams
Patrick Crayton
Sam Hurd
Isah Stanbach.

Not much of a WR core..............dam, we better match.

You could package the 17th and our 3rd and 4th to move up and grab him, while still having the 51st pick.

To the 8th spot if the Raiders get Crabtree..I'm sure the Jags would take it. They need picks. I'm just throwing out scenario's..

Your crazy Maclin is a top 10 pick easy, he going to the Raiders or Jaq. and the 17th a 3rd and a 4th is not nearly enuff to move to the 8th pick. BTW the Jets will be saving the 17th pick on the QB if available.

I'd take the pick.

Then run into the draft with that and what we already have stockpiled for picks, eye up the 1st Round WR we want and make it happen.

Let some other team flip flop over what to do with all those draft picks while we walk home with possibly the future at WR of this team.

I don't know if I'd aim as high as Crabtree, someone like Nicks would suit me just fine. And we could still walk out of this draft with plenty of other draft picks. Moving up into the 20 range would not break this draft by any means for us.

Beats me. But Roy, Hurd, and Crayton aren't going to make many opposing coordinators lose sleep. Tony has his hands full developing chemistry with Roy, let alone another mystery receiver, be it rookie or vet.

If Austin leaves town, another receiver or two will be brought in... perhaps a veteran, and a draft pick... perhaps a high draft pick, and a lower one...

It won't be "Roy, Hurd and Crayton", that's not even a possible scenario...

Your premise is bogus, if Austin leaves some new talent WILL be coming in to replace him...

I'm torn right at this moment to be honest.

Have to think about this one.

Good point, why would Jerry be babbling about how awesome Austin is at the owner's meeting???

If Jerry really is that high on him, its kinda ******** to be telling all the other owners that.

I tend to think Jerry was "talking up" Austin with hopes of somebody taking the bait.

Yeah, because we all know what a 'shrewd negotiator' Jerry is.

Just ask Detroit.

Hey, but at least we get to keep Cory Procter, right?

Why?????

All it does is create another hole and you'll have to draft another receiver who is a way bigger question mark than him and most likely won't have the same measurables as Austin.

We've developed him so why would we do all that hardwork for the Jets?

There's a reason why Austin was an undrafted free agent (or a low round draft pick, cant remember). Id take the pick.

And your premise assumes that player will be a sure thing and immediately able to contribute.

If they're lying around out there, why haven't the Cowboys picked one up already?

The Cowboys have spent three years developing a 24 year old raw talent into an NFL receiver. It would be a shame to have wasted that time only to develop a player for someone else and get a low second round draft pick in return.

Austin's not a very good route runner IMO. He's more of a one dimensional type player. I'd take the pick and replace him with Louis Murphy in the 3rd or 4th. Same type player.

Is it the same reason as why Romo was?

Maybe we should take a second rounder for him too?

Miles Austin + Tashard Choice for the 17th pick.

Take it or leave it Jetsons...otherwise we match!

How do you like them apples? :)

Are you on pills?
Choice?
Why do we want to get rid of him?
Hes potentially our best RB.

Take the Second and run Jerry... Trade up and take.. Not Macklin or Crabtree or Nicks... Get Percy Harvin. He's a instant playmaker.. Fast, Can return kicks, stretch the field and will be a perfect compliment to RW...

I'll gladly take the second rounder. After he sucks this year, they may offer a 5 for him.
