I'm extremely happy with the linebackers and pretty happy with the secondary. The only thing I think we need to considerably improve is the D-line. I think a legit 1-tech would open up holes for the two guys next to him, and a legit edge rusher would provide the sacks. Maybe we'll see that with Brent and Lawrence. I'm really not sure. They seem very committed to Hayden and Mincey.

it is... they give credit, and say we are really good, but not elite because of the amount of yards per play.

I heard on some sports talk show that yardage allowed is inherent in the tampa 2 scheme. We desperately need reinforcement on the D-line since the tampa 2 scheme will give up a lot of yardage even with a half-way decent pass rush. But may be we will make more stops and more INT's if we get better pressure and more sacks.

possibly.... and yeh, more big plays and pressure is what is needed...
it is a defense that keeps everything in front of you, not a lot of trickery to it...

I am happy with the scheme....

We have 13 less sacks than we did last year at this point in the season? That's distressing given how poor the defense was last year.

a lot less points though..... I'll take it.....

I will definitely take it, just surprising, and somewhat of a cause for worry although I would like to see comparable figures for qb hurries. I am not sure that balance holds for the entire season, so I'm hoping that we have a little success in the sack department.

Me too. But I'm not happy (as of yet) with the D-line. I'm grading them on the curve because most are coming off injuries. I believe they need to get much better stopping the run. Too many backs are getting to the 2nd level. We already know about the QB pressures and sacks. I'm very pleased with their containment play although.

I love the fact Marinelli is hard on them and not blowing sunshine up their backside. He knows there is a lot of improvement to that needs to take place and he will continue to push them. This is how you get the most of people. DE need to do a better job of getting off blocks and getting after the QB.

I am concerned as well. Our defense looks respectable, in part helped by our offense and time of possession. If offense is not clicking, we could be in big trouble (first half against Rams).

Sacks are important, just ask Romo and J J Watts.

Agree that Marinelli should be grumpy and getting on them.

Cowboys rush defense is allowing 4.9 ypc (30th in the NFL) and is on pace to record the fewest sacks in NFL history (16 game seasons).

The offense is masking a lot of warts on the defense right now, however, it's not reasonable to expect that could win it all with those kinds of defensive metrics.

Not worried about 4.9 fact is teams have not ran consistent, Lynch had 1 run that was big outside of that he gained little to none and that has pretty much been the case all year. YPC is not always accurate in terms of consistent running game. Offense is doing very good I agree but on the positive defense is making stops they are winning 3rd down battles to get themselves off the field. Something the offense can do but defense has to be able to make plays and they are.

The rushing ypc by opposing teams is very misleading .. Outside of Foster most of those yards are on a couple carries where dallas was ahead and the opposing team was giving up on the run and caught the defense off guard.. I have seen many small runs etc.. Plus allot of the opposing teams were giving up on the run early in games against dallas and being like the league.. Pass happy .. A lot of that driven by being behind in games and trying to catch up with not much consistent success with the run .. Sounds like dallas formula from the past ?? As long as Dallas focuses on TOP and pounding the ball while not allowing the big play .. They should continue to be successful .. Would love to see a better pass rush... Only time will tell...

Cinderella is not yet a beautiful princess :(

They were close to getting sacks a few times. Eli should have been called for intentional grounding a couple of times. Also, the Giants OL had several false starts which usually indicates that the DL is doing something right.

We were told that sacks don't matter. Some one tell coach.

He'd be saying this about something else if we did. Just shows how hungry Marinelli is and how hard he works that defense. And you are seeing the results. Never become complacent!
