We have 13 less sacks than we did last year at this point in the season? That's distressing given how poor the defense was last year.

Yeah that sucks, but I am fairly certain that is the only stat last years defense would be better in.

I'm extremely happy with the linebackers and pretty happy with the secondary. The only thing I think we need to considerably improve is the D-line. I think a legit 1-tech would open up holes for the two guys next to him, and a legit edge rusher would provide the sacks. Maybe we'll see that with Brent and Lawrence. I'm really not sure. They seem very committed to Hayden and Mincey.

Your right. We need a legit 1-tech. Hayden doesn't cut it.

We had 7 sacks after 2 games last season so yeah it's a little distressing to say the least lol. Definitely need to start taking down the quarterback. I know some people may not think sacks are that important and I partly agree that pressures and QB hits also impact the opposing quarterback's play (similar to what we did to Wilson), but getting sacks forces offenses to lose yardage and causes their playbooks to become much shorter in long 2nd and 3rd downs. The defense has been great this season and definitely has improved since last season, but we need to start getting more pressure and sacks. We won't survive in December/January without a consistent pass rush.

This feels like one of those weeks where we complain about the sacks and come out and get about 3 or 4 of them.

We are 30th in the NFL in sacks.....................Marinelli needs to write that on the walls at Valley Ranch for everybody to see all day long and maybe they will be embarrassed into getting some sacks.

We have 1 more sack than the winless Raiders.......................that is just sad.

I aree. Sacks re still an important part of a defense though. If a Qbs shirt is clean is isn't rattled.

I'm realistic I know they are capable of more, hey is you want to sell them short that is your business. Selvie needs to get it going I know he is capable of more because he produced more last season. We have some guys like Spencer who I know is trying to get himself back into game shape after missing an entire season and think he is very capable of improving as the season moves on. You mention Lawrence if he can come in and help in the pass rushing that would be great. I love what this unit has done I think they are capable of improving, I think they expect that and I think Rod expects that so again why would I expect less?

Something needs to be done. It's time for the D to get exotic if it has to and those dlinemen to pin their ears back and get to the QB on Monday night, this is the perfect game to do it. Stunts, fake blitzes, blitz the house, GET TO THE QB on. Monday night, figure out what works.
