Since when was Roy better than Ken Hamlin? Hamlin's 2007 year was better than any year Roy's had since 03. Hell, Hamlin last year was better than what Roy's been since the middle of 06. Roy's terrible, there's little to no drop off with Keith Davis in there and at the very least he tries hard. Roy is little more than a body on defense, when was the last time we saw Roy blow someone up? Blitz effectively? Make a freaking play? If he covered as well as he pointed fingers and blamed the scheme, he'd be an all-pro. Deservingly. A 28 year old player should not have declined to this point, unless he's lazy and has no work ethic.

Roy blew a few up this year. Just not as many as we'd grown accustomed to. And which safety on the team is a better run safety? Davis? Not Hamlin. Which safety on the team is capable of his big play potential even is that's down a lot? Roy's not terrible. He's just not the same Roy and certainly not worth the amount of money thrown at him. And there were times last year we missed his run support.

He's still the best safety on the team although it's not saying a lot about the safeties.

I'm going to call you on this one Adam. We got into it 2-3 years ago (or so) about Roy's play. You have consistently presented your side of the story defending Roy with stats aplenty. You definitely tried to punk people who vigorously disagreed with you. You have never ever said you were wrong nor offered apologies to the people you insulted.

It appears you always think you're right and I've never seen you retract, apologize, etc. Even when it eventually became very clear you were absolutely wrong.

I'd say in my professional opinion you definitely have a very large ego, deflect when confronted, or start in with aggressive remarks to defend yourself.

I would like to point out that I have the same problems at times but I would like to think I can apologize for being clearly wrong on something esp when it's pointed out to me by more than one person.

If you want respect on this board then perhaps you need to reflect on it instead of complaining about it. It is definitely ok to be wrong and not perfect. It only makes us human.

And this is new info?

Thanks for sharing with us all. Please, point out our errors for us since you think its so funny and unacceptable. Of course if we have no right to our opinions, professional or not, then you certainly need to think what yours mean to us all as well. Don't you think?

Hey, what is the off season for if not to fan a few flames? I really could care less what you think of my opinion, it is merely just that. However, I must have been misinformed when I thought doctors were a little more discreet when it came to formulating their professional opinions...and posting them on the internet, no less. I just find it funny. I also challenge you to find where I said you have no right to your opinion.

Having said all that, I think I hit a nerve. Try not to get your panties in a wad, eh chief? It was only in jest.

In any case, I think Adam has more than proven quite a few of his points. I am not as well informed as him, nor do I have the resources he does, but it's hard to argue with many of the things he has posted in the past. They are often more substantial than the "I can see it with my own eyes" arguments many people put forth.

As far as what I find wrong, I believe it to be flawed to say that, because Roy has not been so hot in recent years, he has been terrible his whole career. Many take it to that extreme.

I'm also glad to see I've been "pwned." :lmao2:

You've pretty much become a plate-spinner around here. It's almost like you've developed a schtick.... and a terrible one at that.

While Adam might have been correct on some of his points (yes, Roy did have a lot of tackles [even Adam admits that tackles is a subjective statistic]), the fact that Roy is on the verge of being released proves, "substantially," that Adam overestimated Roy's value to the Cowboys.

Actually, it doesn't. There can be any number of reasons why the Cowboys might go in a different direction at safety that have nothing to do with RW's play on the field the last several years.

With Roy, it's a pretty clear case this year of him being vulnerable because of the structure of his contract, the fact that the game has changed underneath him, and the drop off in his play. He's still the best safety on this team (and Hamlin's a quality player, too). He's one of the better players at his position in the league (top third, IMHO). He'll be snapped up in the open market if the Cowboys release him.

No amount of of disappointed Cowboy fans who let their expectations get the better of them is going to change that.

It doesn't "prove" anything except that the Cowboys may want to go a different direction, especially not "substantially."

I love quotations, don't you?

At this point, if I were Jerry Jones, I'd hold on to him purely for spite.

I don't think you got pawned and I don't really mind your criticism. Some of it is definitely warranted. I do remind you I made no medical diagnosis just observations of behavior over a long time from my perspective which cannot be completely divorced from my professional or non-professional ones. OTOH, I do see it could easily be seen as a breech of ethics so for that I sincerely apologize to anyone offended.

I can't stray too far from a former Marine anyway. Semper Fi.

I have been a huge Roy Williams fan since the day we drafted him and I will continue to be a fan no matter where he goes. I sure hope there's a way we work out some kind of deal and are able to keep him, but if not I wish him nothing but the best wherever he goes from here.

You know, I've always been a big fan too, despite the fact that he has been INCREDIBLY frustrating the past few years. I'd love to keep him on the team if he restructured his contract, but I'm not so sure it would happen.

But to be honest, I have a hard time wishing him the best. I'd be pretty pissed if he went to a different team and started playing like the old Roy Williams that we all loved....

I personally don't care what statistics anyone on this planet brings to me. Roy has lost it, he's not worth the money he was getting paid, and this is why the true brains are probably going to let him walk.

You can prove all of the arguments you want, I could care less. You can show me stat by stat from page 1 to page billion, he sucks in coverage and has become an average tackler, average awareness, no leadership, however, he does seem like a cool guy.

The real issue is this. Is this a player we are trying to replace? Yes. If he takes
a salary cut, we'd still be looking to upgrade the position.

That says it all.

I don't think you should feel that way. Thanks for the PM.
