Leadership and accountability are obviously missing which in turn becomes the inmates running the asylum.

You need a true leader as head coach and we ALL know it but the team does not have one.

Sorry Garrett lovers but he could not handle Romo, TO and the offense on his own and clearly is not as of yet a leader of men.

Things will never change until a coaching change occurs with a real leader of men and we all know what Jerry is about so this may not ever happen.

Further proof Wade Gump is a joke. Hearing stuff like this really ticks me off, no way in heck should he be back coaching this team in 09.

did anybody notice they said no names were mentioned as to being late. in the next paragraph they mention owens?

lol wow, from paragraph to paragraph.

First thing that jumped out to me.

Another example of the media drum beat to get Owens out of here and the "sucked" falling for it.

There is far too much misplaced anger here.

The true culprit is not Wade Phillips. He is "what he is". Everyone knows and has known for years that he is soft. It should not be a shock.

Jerry Jones hired him. Jerry Jones refused his request to up the fine amount. Jerry Jones is the one who should not be back with the team in 2009.

If this stuff is true, and there's reason to believe that at least some of it is, this is quite a mess. Why on earth would they lower the fines to, basically, a few dollars for these guys? It almost encourages lack of discipline. $100 is nothing to most of them. I don't get it. If they can't get this situation on offense starightened out, it will be the biggest waste of talent I have ever seen in over 30 years of watching football. Romo, Witten, TO, RW, Barber, Felix, Choice, and good (maybe not great) offensive linemen that have had time to gel....boggles the mind that they can't dominate. Coaching needs to really crack the whip this year and they need to have this team stop crying to the media which only adds fuel to the fire.

1) Terence Newman states on ESPN First Take that the chemistry in the lockerroom was weaker than it was in 2007. He also says the main reason is that there is no accountability in the Coaching Staff.

2) Terrell Owens does an interview with Deion Sanders criticizing Jason Garretts play calling. A few days after the interview, Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones backed Terrell Owens by stating that Terrell Owens was correct when he claims we are more successful when he gets the ball and therefore back the player over the coach.

3) The Cowboys go 1-3 in the month of December and in a must win situation to make the Playoffs are massacred in Philadelphia to tune of 44-6.

4) Patrick Crayton states on ESPN that the relationship between Terrell Owens and Jason Garrett was "a little rocky". He also states that Terrell Owens has some respect for Jason Garrett but not 100% respect for him. Furthermore, when asked if the two can co-exist, he states that they could but there would have to be a man to man talk first.

5) A member of Cowboyszone.com meets Roy Williams at a game and states that Roy Williams said he would be happy if Jason Garrett accepted a job with another organization.

6) Finally, throughout the season report after report is written stating that there is a lack of discipline and cliques being formed in the lockeroom.

Where there is smoke there is fire.

Gee whiz...stuff some of us have been saying was obvious comes out now.

One of the key off-season disciplinary issues the team must address is tardiness.

The team charter left late for road games five times this season because players were late to the airport according to three sources. This season, players were fined $100 for being late to meetings or missing a treatment. .

Owens was a repeat offender in being late for team meetings,

Meetings would sometimes start 10 to 15 minutes later than scheduled, those sources said.

A source said Phillips asked Jones to raise the fine total but was rebuffed by the owner.

According to five sources, several offensive players lost respect for Garrett for his failure to corral quarterback Tony Romo in practice. Romo, sources said, often forced throws in practice and often did not treat practice work consistently.

The quarterback's practice habits were so bad, sources said, that they affected the way he played in games and could have factored into the offense's problems.

Sources said Owens was upset that Romo directed more passes at tight end and close friend Jason Witten as opposed to the other receivers who he deemed open. Owens has declined to discuss that issue.

Romo, according to a source, was also personally offended when Garrett was critical of his play late in the season.

How Garrett deals with these communication issues is a concern going forward. Even Phillips, who rarely publicly singles out players for miscues, noted a late-season interception thrown by Romo was careless.

You could tell this team wasn't ready, all year long. I can't remember a single game they played, outside maybe the Giants game, where I could say - man they looked sharp today.

We can't replace 53 players, but we can replace a lame-duck coach, and a coordinator that 6 cellar dwellars wanted nothing to do with.

Watkins has probably been working on this for a while, and being an hour late to a game you got throttled 44-6 doesn't look good for the head coach.

Romo not taking practice seriously? Big surprise. Our lame *** coach and coordinator guys call a kid - are not going to get it done here.

To hell with continuity, our guys aren't coaches, they're camp counsellars. Our QB thinks his **** doesn't stink, our top receiver still thinks he's 26, and our defense is jam full of overpaid underachievers.

This ship is sinking, fast.

It's hard to Believe that Jerry won't let Wade increase the fines, what was he thinking?.

Sad but true, the late thing for the team bus and plane at least a few times was due to the players giving interviews.

Some may remember when Romo was giving a post-game presser and the staff guy kept pushing Romo to wrap it up because the bus was leaving or running behind.

I understand those situations but I do not understand why players are simply being late or unprofessional.

Clearly goes back to the lax atmosphere and lack of fear for any given action.

I truly hope Jerry gives over to axing Wade and hiring a coach like Mike S.

The fact is that this particular Dallas team with entitled stars will never listen to or respect a soft or young coach.

This article is the first time I have ever heard anything like this before.

I think I am going to wait for either a second source or for Jerry to address this before passing judgement.

I just have a hard time believing this is legit......at least I hope it is not legit:mad:

And why were they giving interviews? I am just guessing here, but I doubt that they were all part of NFL-mandated press interaction. I am sure there were some cases like that, but it was probably a small percentage.

I truly hope Jerry gives over to axing Wade and hiring a coach like Mike S.

If Jones does not get his arms around this, it won't matter if he hired ten Mike Shanahans. The players need to be controlled. The message has to come from him since no matter who is called the head coach, the players will always know he is the one in charge.

If you are expecting Jerry Jones to acknowledge this, do not hold your breath.

What lends credence to the account is that it is not entirely thrown at the feet of Phillips. If it were a fabrication or exaggeration, would it not be easier to just lump it in with the rest of the Camp Cupcake scenario?

Why would Jerry do this, it doesnt make sense???

When you fine a guy $100 for being late and he is making $2 million per season, it is like a quarter to you and me for comparison purposes.

If I could show up an hour late for work and flip my boss a quarter and we are good to go, why would I ever bother showing up on time again???

Don't worry; they'll find a way. Why oh why did this story have to break on the same day "5countem5" was banned? He almost had me going with the "our locker room is a sea of tranquility" BS.
It's temporary.

Currently Calvin Watkins is in Mobile with the staff and scouts, so I believe the sources aren't players but others in the organization. Doesn't matter at this point.

Pretty obvious the team has lots of muck to wade through this offseason.

I wish Jimmy was on that plane one more time when those guys didn't show up. :banghead:

What I would give for a tough, disciplined HC.

Ok I am going to translate the article for everyone that does not get it.

Valley Ranch was a three ring circus from top to bottom last year. Period blame to go around everywhere.

Jimmy and Parcells were the only disciplinarians Jerry has hired.

And it doesn't help guys like Wade, Campo, Gailey and Switzer when they are soft and then Jerry undermines them on top of it by allowing certain players to come to him and he overrides the coaches decisions.

You'd think after the Switzer years Jerry would've learned, but I guess sometimes you can't change a fool.

Out of all of the things in that article that are screwed up the Romo part is the one that gets to me the most.

Just think for a second.

Could you imagine this being said of Staubach or Aikman?

Never in a million years.

I like Romo and Hell I just got his jersey for Christmas but are you kidding me.

This is the QB that we are all hoping is going to lead us to our next Super Bowl win and he has practice habits that are so bad that they could be affecting our offense?!

That's Pathetic and disappointing on a massive scale.

And Jerry not letting Phillips raise fines and are you kidding me...leave late for five out of eight road games?

Man this team has troubles.

Damn!

I just posted this in another thread before I came into this one and man I didn't miss the mark by much.

I hate to say this but I think we should take a page from the Giant's book circa the year of their improbable superbowl run except in reverse. Coughlin ran a complete totalitarian regime and when the players were on the verge of a full blown mutiny he eased up and became the kinder gentler Coughlin, very Wadish.

Day one Wade has to lay down the hammer to the coaches and the players. If this means demeaning them in the media, cutting a player, or using forceful language then so be it. He needs to send the message that in order for us to win this is necessary but after his explanation he needs to commence to putting his put in their collect rears nonstop.

It is amazing to me how much players say they want to be treated like men but most coaches who do so end up getting fired because the players whether subconsciously or knowingly run all over them. This is a classic case of the inmates running the asylum. Law needs to be reinstituted at all cost or next season we will be at the bottom of the league or worse in the middle of the pack.

The only problem would be does he has the stones to do so. I think he does because most coaches have that in them (most coaches are natural born liars and heartless). The first fire he needs to quell would be the TO/Romo/Garrett 3 alarm (its funny that the press constantly leaves Romo out of the equation but his comments were probably more damaging then TO’s). If he takes the pacifist approach then he deserves the fate that he gets, a first time mid season fire by Jerry Jones.
