Lol, at the overreacting in March for the loss of middle of the road players that are relatively easy to replace.I personally love what they are doing. Not reaching to pay players that are either mediocre, injury-riddled, or who's best football is behind them.
On top of that you could field a starting secondary right now that would look like this ...
- S - Jones, Heath
- CB - Brown, Carroll, and Scandrick
Although that may not look ideal, it certainly shouldn't inspire panic either. Especially, and I'll say it again ... in March. The team could fly with that if they had to and just add depth. The probability is that they will spend a front line draft pick on someone they expect to start, relegating one of those players to solid depth instead. There is also a ton more player movement that is going to occur before and after the draft as well as undrafted free agents later on for potential added depth as well. Then there's roster cuts and potential trades with other teams. It is way, waaaay too early to get your panties in a wad over what has happened thus far.
Let us not forget players like Claiborne, Carr, and Wilcox were guys most everyone wanted to throw on the scrapheap before Joe Baker and Greg Jackson waved their magic wand over the crappy coaching job Jerome Henderson had done before them. I like our coaches back there. If the front office gives them some decent clay, I feel confident they can mold it.
