You do realize it's week 3? VERY early to be writing them off.
That’s exactly why you should be concerned. Week 3 and we’ve already been exposed. Teams already know how to beat us because the lowly cardinals of all teams figured out our simple scheme. Not to mention it’s been 3 weeks of the league’s worst red zone offense. We should be worried and considering the history of this team, it’s definitely not out of the question to write them off.

Dak has already shown you his ceiling. He's a good guy. No, he's a GREAT guy. But he's not bringing Dallas to the promised land. Let him finish his contract through next season. See how he does, see how Trey Lance does. And if neither one of them work out, then draft a QB in April 2025. I don't know who all will be available, but I know scouts are very high on sophomore Drew Allar at Penn State. Not sure when Shedeur Sanders comes out. There are others as well; certainly the '24 and '25 draft classes will be better than '23.
There will be no championships with Dak. Why does it matter if he is a good guy or not. He is being paid to be an elite QB and he certainly is not elite. I consider him a journeyman and always will. He just does not have the proproiceptive skills nor football intelligence of elite qbs.

Post of the night, except my Duece thread.

Including the term proprioceptive and expanding my whole universe when it comes to talent evaluation is beyond appreciated.

Of course you extend Dak. I would think a nice long 10 year fully guaranteed ($50 mil/year) should do it. He’s got the fourth most wins since 2016 (only behind Brady, Rodgers, and Mahomes). He has TWO more than Kirk Cousins and NINE more than Goff. His total QBR was top five in 2016, 2017, and 2019 so he’s been a top five QB basically half his career (I don’t want to talk about the other years). He’s thrown for the 8th most TD passes since 2016 (3 more than Derek Carr and 9 more than Goff—he’s only 45 TDs less than Kirk Cousins in 15 less games which he could easily throw for had he played). He’s also ranked in the top ten QB’s by most media people which means he’s a top ten player and correlates to postseason success from a QB perspective. He’s a high character guy that does not show up drunk to games. He remembers to wear the correct uniform EVERY SINGLE game. I rest my case.

You cannot find QB’s in the draft that can start in this league unless the team gets lucky. All the QB’s drafted high that fail had fantastic running games and offensive lines and hall of fame coaching (that’s how you know that drafting QB’s in the draft is a crapshoot-every one of those QB’s were on awesome teams and held their teams back). Only Dak had to suffer through the inept Garrett seasons with no running game and zero defense. He’s had to pull this wreck of a team on his own for years and years.

Brock Purdy is just a gem drafted late. It has nothing to do with the rest of that team. He’s just really good. When you have a top ten QB that has a team that can get into the playoffs—-I mean that drags his terrible team into the playoffs pretty routinely—-you pay them the going rate like Minnesota does with Cousins (till their legs fall off).

why not draft a QB in 2024? let Rush walk. if Lance can't handle back up duties, then we know he ain't got it and we have the back to the backup plan already in place.

You do realize it's week 3? VERY early to be writing them off. The Cowboys lost winnable games the last 2 years and still went 12-5.

What do we have to lose? A lot more winnable games. Lance isn't ready. We all know that. He probably won't be until next summer at the earliest and maybe not then.
You have to be worrying about getting to the red zone only settling for field goals. This is not going to cut it against 49ers or Eagles or other great teams.

Let Dak test the market and then decide from there. I don’t think any team will offer the price he wants from Dallas and he’ll come back at a discount(or his correct value). It’s no reason to keep paying his inflated value that we are .

Do not extend Dak

Some people should assemble concert level sound equipment outside The Star, wait for Jerry Jones to be inside his office, and scream this like Sam Kinison for 30 minutes.

Frisco residents will hear it from miles away but Jones will not.

might as well considering this team isn’t going to be doing jack for the remainder of the season. What do we have to lose? Any team that loses to a bottom dweller like the cardinals isn’t going anywhere
I see your still using the copy and paste function repeatedly. Seems like you keep using the "bottom dweller" tandem in several threads. You remind me of a kid in my elementary school that used to get beat up because he would not shut up and was an instigator. Come to find out, he just liked the attention so a little pain was worth it. What's your excuse?

By year 8 as a starter, if we are still having discussions about the "players, coaching, system, etc." around him not being good enough, it's just time to admit that he's not the guy and it's time to move on. It's insane to me that we are hoping for the defense to be so dominant that Dak can be a bus driver/game manager to justify keeping him around.

Hes a great qb. No question about it.
You should take a gander at the NFL subreddit and see what every other team's fans think of his "greatness", especially after that gem of a red zone pass into triple coverage last night. There's plenty of threads about it, hard to miss.

LOL Is all I'm going to say

This TEAM was garbage today. Don’t try and blame Dak because you don’t like him. You better spread the blame around. Whole team stunk today.
The d was garbage, Dak is garbage. How long of his incompetence before everyone is seeing the truth about Dak. The most overpaid athlete in the history of team sports.

Of course we should get rid of Dak, after all you can pick up an All Pro off of any practice squad in the league.
This is a lame response. Years ago the Garrett lovers made similar arguments - 'so you fire Garrett. Then what? Who replaces him? You might get a worse HC.' What you are insinuating is that Dallas should stick with Dak to the bitter end because there's a chance a replacement might suck worse.

This is a terrible reason to hang on to someone who isn't getting the job done. What did sticking with Garrett for 10 years do for the franchise?

Sanders????????????? He'll end up as a backup in the Canadian league if his daddy can't talk an NFL club in to signing his son...................

no i can and will blame the $40,000,000 franchise qb who had many many chance to pick up the slack for the defense who had a bad day and he did nothing
Ok. Do that. If that make you sleep better. Defense crapped the bed today. Nothing more, nothing less. Review film and prepare for New England.

I would banter with you, but you sound to emotional. I’ll wait till rational thought comes back.

I was never in favor of giving him a contract to begin with and I was called all kinds of names for it. You just never know which Dak is going to show up but the one who does show up is actually overpaid. He's not that good. He misses quite a few throws, can't read the field well. Now when he's bad he is really bad but when he has a decent game it's still not that impressive.

I completely agree, let him play out the rest of his contract and then he can go be someone else's problem.
I can tell you which one. If its a cakewalk.....8-9 bucs for example....is one dak.
When its a tough shoot out and we need a high level qbto bail us out...thats the other dak.
