Do not give up on Gregory

Rely on him as much as an UDFA, because that's what his contract will be worth as an ERFA: a one year, non-guaranteed, league minimum contract. UDFAs that get a $5k signing bonus will be paid more than Gregory.

How many years can he do this. Time to cull him out of the herd. We'll never be able to depend on him.

If we can get him for 2019 and resign Lawrence we will be fine.

But for the 2020 draft, we should definitely draft a DE in round 1. Possibly even move up to get the guy we want.

Signing him Seems most problematic. If we can't sign him or trade him, I'd let him walk, save the money, and look elsewhere. As for gregory, sayonara. Enough is enough. Sooner or later his yearly lapses will create a locker room problem.

This goes way beyond football. Bi-polar disorder and substance use is no joke. I am glad the Cowboys are trying to help him but counting on him to play next year is very slim. I hope I am wrong but the odds are not good. It is ok for the Cowboys to help him but first Gregory needs to want the help.

I commend the Cowboys for wanting to help Gregory get well, but in terms of the team and football, he is unreliable. Giving up on him as a man would be a bad thing, but giving up on him as a football player is something else and it may be necessary for Gregory's long term health.

Weed is not substance abuse by any means. The only reason this is even a story is because the NFL's policy on weed. Gregory uses weed to cope like so many others. But if he was cramming prescription pills down his throat like big pharma wants, no one would bat an eye.

If Gregory has even the slightest chance of playing this upcoming year it signals a serious shift in thinking about mental health issues and/or weed by the NFL. It sounds like that may be the way this is heading.

I do think Gregory and Irving are very different. Irving is just a thug life type of guy while Gregory seems to have legitimate mental health issues.
