Ive been saying this for almost 5 years now. Yes the Cowboys are poorly managed and have two idiots running the team, but a better QB wins that game against SF last year.

Look at the Bengals. The are a horribly ran franchise as well, and their #1 overall pick took them to the SB in year 2 and came so close to winning it all

They badly want to believe that if Romo and Dak couldn't do it then nobody at all can.

It's a coping mechanism.

The reality is if we focused on finding a great QB after Aikman we would've had MUCH more success. We instead settled on QBs that overachieved.

FYI, Mahomes had 5 tds twice last year and still lost to Dak in this bet. Unfortunately, we will never know how this would have turned out. So, again, take your victory lap because Dallas is in for a horrendous season and you are soooo smart.

Wow, doubling down on a bad take is gutsy. Dak needs defenses to not take away short intermediate throws to be successful. Teams are finally seeing that he can be all but nullified with cover 2 type schemes and forcing him to pick them apart. He is not a pocket passer.

He is exceptional at taking easy yardage if the defense respects certain other weapons to give him room. Nothing more though. Him passing behind wide open receivers multiple times last night was a continuation of issues he has had since his rookie season. Some receivers can consistently make those catches, but when they do not this passing offense looks ugly. He’s a less mobile run/play action QB whose best weapon was always his rushing threat.

In response to the OP original question, I would for sure draft a QB if it’s a top 2-3 selection. Develop him for at least one season. Pray the team decides to go a Parcells type route again.

When Dak is your QB the margin of error with the rest of the roster is incredibly small. The Teddy Bridgewater's and Garner Minshews of the world would look better right now. I mean, I thought Rush looked better.

So we have 3 options here:

Do we try to get a QB through the draft like Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, or Allen?

Do we sign a QB like Tampa did with Brady?

Do we trade for a QB like the Rams did with Stafford?

Personally, with us being stuck with the injury prone and not good Dak Prescott I think we should draft a 1st rounder THIS YEAR with our high draft pick we'll have. This years draft is supposed to be very high on QB talent. This is the year we should do it.

We can put him behind Dak and let him learn and as soon as Dak can be let go we let him go.

Arlington Jonesboys do not live in reality. You need to draft, trade, and sign a real GM.

From 1994-present you have had every QB, RB, TE, OL, WR, DL, LB, DB imaginable. But only one constant problem that could do nothing to make them contenders let alone champions....the GM. The GM is your President, Owner, and de facto Head Coach. That is the Jonesboys problem.

Just look at all the players/coaches from 1994 that have won championships, played in NFC/AFC championship games and Super Bowls with other teams...Ron Stone, Chavarious Ward, Anthony Hitchens, Sean Payton, Todd Bowles, Jimmy Smith, Matt Moore, Taco Charlton, Mo Claiborne, Damien Wilson, Cole Beasley, Barry Church, etc....

Dak Prescott, Tony Romo, Quincy Carter (all playoff game winning QBs) were not your problem. The man in charge of building and managing a football team is your problem and you can not do anything about it.

I think the answer is simple based on the youth of the team and the needs to be a contender. We are rebuilding the OL and we are still searching for that run stuffer on the DL. If we had everything in place; then, go after that vet who would put us over the top. We are not there yet, so go draft one.

We play out the schedule with what we got which will result in a top 10 (maybe top 5) pick. Then we aggressively try to trade up for a QB and trade Dak. And have 5 years of a top QB on a rookie deal to build around with free agent money.

You draft a QB and on average you are going to spend 3 firsts to get someone who is as good as Dak (I can actually list every first round QB picked in the past decade to demonstrate that Mitch Trubisky is actually an above average 1st round pick). Great free agent QBs come around maybe once every 5-7 years. That basically leaves you with a trade and realistically who is up for a trade?

There are some backups that you can trade for, Huntley (though it might cost you a 2nd or a 1st to pry him from Baltimore), Foles, or Jimmy G. None of these options are great and would certainly be a downgrade at the position. The only upper end starter that you MIGHT be able to trade for is Jackson and that would almost certainly cost you 3 1s and some 2s at the start. Getting even an average QB is something a lot of the NFL is trying to do and they have not been doing a great job at it.

Wait for prescott to come back, hope he wins a few, trade him on the offseason to NYG/J, indy, TN, for a first. Trade diggs for a first and cd for a 3rd.

Get a QB, LT, DT and RB
