I would love to spend our 28 on Malcom Butler
Dream on. Belicheck is always the screw-er when it comes to the Pats' wheeling and dealing, never the screw-ee. Next.

Once the Cowboys finalize their draft board I doubt they have 28 players with first round grades. That tells me if they get a good trade offer to move down 5-10 spots a trade down could very easily happen.Do we follow the Pats and trade out of 1st rd?
I heard he's only making 3M this year on NFLN

it's not stupid, Zach Martin is playing this upcoming year on the fifth year club option......or would you rather him as a free agent with no cap room to sign him....the fifth year option is huge for teams...

No, he is not signed. The Pats put a first-round tender on him, which means that they have guaranteed that number as a minimum if he signs the tender, and that any team that signs him will have to give NE their first round pick if the Pats choose not to match (which is their right by making the tender). That will NEVER happen -- Butler will not sign the tender as he seeks a long term deal, and the Pats will almost certainly match any offer in the unlikely event somebody were to agree to one with Butler.
Bottom line -- you heard wrong. If you want Butler this year, it will cost you the going rate for CBs PLUS your first round pick -- and only if BB decides to let him go.
Pats probably still have 2 1st round draft picks coming for their backup qb from the browns.

Much depends on how the Boys set up their board and how many they have 1st round grades. If one of the guys (15-20) that they have 1st round grades fall to to 28 then I believe they take him regardless of position.
If not, they could trade down if a team wants to come up. Remember most club really value that 5th year option so that alone overvalues the trade. It would not be out of the question for say Cleveland to give 33 and 65 to move up to 28 say for a QB.
Ah, assuming you trade him but don't extend him?
Either you're kicking in a 1st for a one year deal, or you're extending him for his reported $10MM AAV ask (and that was reportedly last year's ask). I think those are the choices unless he's willing to take a discount.
Interesting move on their part.
So does this mean the talent at #28 is also not a sure thing.
Is a trade back coming and if so..
for whom?
Over-valuing #28 has to be avoided.
Opinions?
10M per would be a steal for him. I think he's better than Gilmore. Course reports are he wants out so he may go for that.
I saw DJ and bucky brooks from NFLN have us taking the TE from Ole miss.... I was just like no.... If its not the top two TEs Howard or Njoku this class is so deep id feel comfortable waiting till the mid rounds.
Their highest pick is R3-72
I'm expecting the Browns to trade them 2 #1s for jimmy.
Engram is better than Njoku and it isn't close IMO.
I'd take him at 28 and never look back. Dude would be scary in this offense.
