all of you who half said Ap is a done deal here if Murray go then think of this:
That phone call between AP and Jerra. Surely, someone will rule that was tampering. And no, there is no statue of limitations with liberties on tampering.

I prefer Murray. It make no sense to half developed him all these years and then let him go as soon as he start acting all like Jim Brown.
Yes, Murray will not come cheap. yet, murray this year half contributed way more than Dez and no one is dogging dez for wanting more monies than Xi Jinping's spoiled son.

For tampering, the club has to initiate the contact..................all accounts are that Peterson called Jerry.....................a player can call a team and beg to be drafted or traded or signed or whatever, as long as it was not the team that was initiating the contact then its not tampering.

and if Peterson is asking for a lot? Rusty Harden was not cheap and Peterson on the downhill side is ot looking to rebuild his career he will be looking for a good payday and chances are his last big payday. IMO

He wants to go back home to texas to a contending team. Don't think money is his biggest concern.

Adrian Peterson - will be 30 by next season - 10 k + yards

Marshawn Lynch - will be 29 next seasom - 8 K + yards

DeMarco Murray - wil be 27 next season - 3 K + yards

The only thing that will prevent Adrian Peterson from being a Cowboy next season is if he fumbles the ball on doing the rehab programs assigned to him. If public perception remains critical, Jerry will not want him on the team.

Peterson has always wanted to be a Cowboy. I get it, he messed up. Let him deal with that and get punished but when it's time I'll welcome him here in a heartbeat. Adrian Peterson is a workaholic freak of nature. He's far from over the hill not even sure how anyone can say that. He's the most gifted rb we've seen in a long time.

Perfect storm.

Adrian's Cowboy fandom + Jerry's man crush + DeMarco's huge payday + this humbling experience + opportunity to play with this O Line

The problem I see with Peterson is the April 15th date...............Free agency usually starts around the first week of March, so you are looking at probably 5 weeks of free agency before knowing what the situation is with Peterson.

What if you wait for Peterson, all the good running backs are signed up during that 5 week period, and then we don't get Peterson? We could be left with nothing in that case.

By the way, my guess is that the team can sign him to a 3-year deal with a first year cap hit that will be about a third of what Murray's new contract will be. The deal will basically be a 2-year deal with the 3rd year thrown in there to give him a bigger signing bonus.

Perfect world we keep Murray. I just don't see that happening.

Sure - but having one of those guys bridge it til the rookie is ready would be nice. Peterson will also have one less year of wear. It's not that they drop off a magic cliff at 30. It's the wear and tear of a guy who has been the horse up to 30. AP at least gained a year back in that regard.

There's always the draft. Plus, the trend in the league is not overpaying for RB's. Someone will be there.

I also think the Vikings will decide to cut him before free agency, freeing up tons of cap room. I'm sure there will be some "informal" talks between Peterson's agent and someone close to the Cowboys.

Not that worried about the RB situation. I'm more worried about the Cowboys getting a Free Safety, D-Line help, and a legit CB to right this defense.

I think it's possible if he gets counseling, which he will probably be req'd to do. He and Randle would make a NICE combo. Hey, I don't want to lose Murray but he's going to want too much money. IF he finishes this season healthy, it would be his first full season in the league. Just too rich considering we have Dez and others to sign. Thoughts?

And you think AP will play for less money here in Dallas? Why are people assuming that Murray is going to want big money? He hasn't even put an offer on the table just yet.

Why would AP be cheaper than Murray?

He is damaged goods as far as image. He called Jerry Jones during the summer saying he wanted to end his career in Dallas. He will be 30 next season. But with this season off for tints and purposes he still has a lot left in the tank. I say draft a RB (I still would take Gurley even with the torn ACL) Now you can get him with a 4th or 6th round pick. Randle to back him up until Gurley is ready to take the job.

More likely to see Peterson in New England.

Maybe even Indy.

Dallas is a viable option though. I could see it. As someone said early on...bargaining chip.
