this was another disasterous trade. Cowboys had liked Mingo a couple of years back in the draft and that's what they did, trading a 4th for him, who had a 2nd round grade. they failed to watch his NFL films. he was 5th on the depth chart in Carolina. he was a failed NFL WR already. but jerry made the move to appease the fans. ther was no football reason behind it. this was as bad as the Lance trade.

The Cowboys are just investment capital for the Jones family. They aren't serious about competing for a Championship, no matter what the old man says.
These dumb trades aren't made by real football people - they are made by business men who think they are smarter than the rest of the league. Money wise, it appears they might be - as they are still the most valuable franchise and they haven't won jack in 30 years - THIRTY YEARS!!!

It was a stupid trade, they overpaid for a guy Carolina was moving on from because they like an UDFA WR better than him.

I am all for aggression but they just made this move to look like they were doing something showing how reactionary and clueless Jerry is.

Unfortunately, this Cowboys' FO pays far too much attention for trying to get something for nothing. I won't hold my breath for the proposition that Mingo's performance might necessarily pay off. Only time will tell whether or not that deal was worth the price paid. Let's hope it works out.
I'm inclined to give that deal a fairly optimistic response of maybe it'll work out -- who knows?! Not betting on it, though!

This was another of Jerry’s dumbest moves, he is a player you pickup as a camp cut… and to squander a 4th round pick on him was just plain stupid. But what do you expect from Jerry at this point? The man is just desperate and clueless… a very bad combination.
What TC just said.......and Jerry keeps picking those winners with wasted draft picks.....only jimmy knew how to pull off a trade (maybe parcells)....because he had the eye for talent and build for need.

4th was a high price for what he was. However he is still under contract for two years

I think 80-100 catches over two years is pretty good production for a 4th round pick. Will Mingo get that?
in Mikes Offense, he doesn't stand a chance..LOL the first thing we can hope that happens next week whenever the news is I'm Mike McCarthy we need a new offensive staff better philosophy better scheming just better everything that will be able to judge our wide receivers better and especially that tighten drop off I'm not blaming those guys there's something wrong with this offense from day one in 24 and never got better.

The only way I see Mingo having any success is if they move him into the slot position. He has a big enough body to help with LBs and DEs while also being a possession-type receiver. But, to answer the original question, no, I don't think he'll ever be worth the fourth that was traded for him. I thought he went at least 2 rounds too early when he was drafted. Hopefully I'm wrong and he turns it around next year.
That's the absolute opposite of what you use a big guy for the slot is for smaller shifty motion guys.. The big guys are clear Xs you know the guys on the outside. I haven't took a close look but he's built like A.J. Brown A.J. Brown don't play in the slot TO didn't really play in the slot those dudes are on the outside you want them to do jump balls that type of thing be able to beat a guy over the top tight coverage you know big body guy with some speed that's what we actually need that is what they got but that doesn't mean he's talented enough to do anything with it but in the draft I'd be looking for a A.J. Brown type maybe even with a little more speed.....

We traded a 4th for Lance. You know who was available when we should have been picking in the 4th round last year? Bucky Irving. I can’t wait to see who is available in the 4th this year when we should be picking. Throwing away 4th round picks for guys that have a terrible track record in the NFL is just incomprehensible and reckless on the part of the Cowboys. You trade 6th and 7th rounders for guys that were graded higher on your board but didn’t pan out in the NFL. Use those low picks to try and turn someone’s career around. YOU DON’T USE PREMIUM PICKS!!!

LOL. Did anyone see the Schatz (the DVOA guy) article yesterday?

Mingo this year had the third worst DYAR in the league, and the year before had the second worst DYAR season of all time.

Absolute clown show of a trade.

Mingo showed that he is good blocker and he can catch the ball on accurate passes. Against Washington, 3 targets with 2 catches and pass interference call that set up their only td. In his 1st game he was wide open for a td, but Rush missed him with a pass that was totally off target.

You have to listen to the expectations you're setting though. Catching accurate passes should be the bare minimum for any NFL receiver. Does he use his big frame to create a wide catch radius for his QB to be off target? If so we may have something to build on. If that cant be developed he is going to struggle to see the field.

He may have been missed running wide open, but how many times is he running open? Just because a WR is open doesnt mean the QB always has a clean lane to throw and will deliver a strike. To start in this league you need to be able to be wide open multiple times in games or need to be able to make contested catches at an above average rate. All players at this level can make plays, its the frequency in which they can make plays that separates these guys. From mingo we need to see positives at a much higher rate.

I actually think Mingo will be our X next season and 4th round picks are somewhat overrated but the Cowboys overpaid for him. The trade was another example of Jerry showing everyone he is in charge. What an egomaniac.

I don’t think stats will tell his story with CeeDee around and the Cowboys appear to be more of a power running team going forward. Mingo needs to make teams pay for leaving him open and continue to block in the running game. Mingo just needs to be the end of his Cowboys career Noah Brown. Someone Dak and the coaches trust. A good number three receiver.
