Big guys line up in the slot all the time. AJ Brown takes around 20% of his snaps from the slot. I'm not sure they tracked that data when TO played, but he played all over the field as well. Anquan Boldin was 6'1" 220lbs and primarily played the slot. Larry Fitzgerald was 6'3" 220lbs and took nearly 90% of his snaps inside. This year with Carolina Mingo actually got about half his snaps from the slot. Dallas gave him about 25% of his snaps from the slot. That's the absolute opposite of what you use a big guy for the slot is for smaller shifty motion guys.. The big guys are clear Xs you know the guys on the outside. I haven't took a close look but he's built like A.J. Brown A.J. Brown don't play in the slot TO didn't really play in the slot those dudes are on the outside you want them to do jump balls that type of thing be able to beat a guy over the top tight coverage you know big body guy with some speed that's what we actually need that is what they got but that doesn't mean he's talented enough to do anything with it but in the draft I'd be looking for a A.J. Brown type maybe even with a little more speed.....
He won't be in the NFL after next year IMO.LOL. Did anyone see the Schatz (the DVOA guy) article yesterday?
Mingo this year had the third worst DYAR in the league, and the year before had the second worst DYAR season of all time.
Absolute clown show of a trade.

I understand the typical alignments of an NFL offense, but any receiver can play in the slot. As I'm sure you've noticed, NFL teams are starting to find success by aligning their premier receiver in the slot. Some of the reasons for this success are 1. Aligning in the slot gives them a less restricted release 2. They have a two-way go (inside or outside) upon releasing - more space to operate 3. The ball travels less distance to the slot than the outside receiver 4. Mismatch reasons - slot cornerbacks tend to be smaller 5. To take advantage of defensive strategy - quality outside CB, safety rotation, etc. My primary reason for saying Mingo might have success in the slot is because of the physical mismatch he might present to a slot corner. Obviously, you see it differently which is cool. That's the absolute opposite of what you use a big guy for the slot is for smaller shifty motion guys.. Oh boy I cant wait to see the crazy rant you get in response....I understand the typical alignments of an NFL offense, but any receiver can play in the slot. Trance, Duece and Mingo I see a bright future ahead.4th was a high price for what he was. However he is still under contract for two years
I think 80-100 catches over two years is pretty good production for a 4th round pick. Will Mingo get that?
You mean that didn't scream trade a 4th for him? Carolina was probably like wait you want to give us a 4th?LOL. Did anyone see the Schatz (the DVOA guy) article yesterday?

I feel like we could be giving up 7th round picks for him, Lance. Not Madden 7th round thinking, just that they had no competition for these.A fourth-round pick is just too much for a WR who hasn't done anything. If we had given up a fifth, I would have felt much better about it, especially since we are expected to get three extra fifth-round compensatory picks.
The 4th round picks are just so valuable. I am not sure why Jerry is giving them away like candy.
