Do you think Dallas could make a trade for DE with the trade deadline looming?

Correct. Though it will take him a couple of weeks to get into playing form, as it would for any traded-for player learning the new-to-him system properly.

I wish we would have gone for Freeney when he was available. Be that as it may, I wouldn't trade for anyone. This is a relatively young team. We're ahead of schedule and need our draft picks, particularly since we've been drafting well.
Correct. And, since we're a young team, we don't have to win now. If Romo was/is leading us, then yes. But, with the youth movement in full-effect, we need our picks to get young talent to rebuild our D to make SB runs for the next Decade.

This is crazy talk.

They are 5-1 with a legit chance to win the division. This notion that we don't have to win now boggles my mind.

When you have a young team that's still getting better, you don't have to mortgage your future on a veteran to win now. You do that when your window of opportunity is small (aging vets). If that simple logic boggles your mind, you may need to enter concussion protocol.

A player who is better than the ones we already have will cost more than we're willing to pay, so I think we'll stand pat. Plus, our success in drafting lately makes our picks more valuable then ever.

Mortgage your future? First of all, any player you might get at this point in the season is probably going to cost some lower round picks. So it's not like you are trading a first rounder here.

But let's say the Texans decided to move Clowney, for example. I'd definitely consider throwing a 2nd round pick at them for him.

I wouldn't. He's damaged goods, doesn't give full effort, and is very weak minded

That might be dreaming.....Clowney is only due 300k for the rest of this year and 3.5m for next year and he has the 5th year option

Why on earth would you give a 2nd rd pick for a player that's done next to nothing as a pro? Like I said, concussion protocol is this way -->. Come with me please.

I was just using a talent like him as an example. He's not on the block and rarely are guys that get traded in this league.

Because this team is a pass rush away from being a team that can absolutely win the SB this year. I think a guy like Clowney's talent with Marinelli would produce good results.

Taking a guy Clowney also doesn't screw up this whole youth movement Dallas has gone through. This whole argument that you can't take on any older players, like it would have been a bad move to sign Freeney, because it messes with the youth movement is beyond bizarre to me.

Good point. Marinelli has gotten more out of players with less ability. So, who knows.

Amen, he is 23 and starting to play like they expected......a 2nd might be a bargain for 2+ years

Might have to throw in Sanchez

With our QB situation the way it's been the past 1.5 years, Sanchez isn't going anywhere.

It was half a joke but Sanchez is redundant with Dak and Tony

The Cowboys know they're one hit (and not even a bad one) away from having one QB with any real experience. I would guess they learned their lesson after last season.

No need. After four more games a suspended Cowboy defensive end and a suspended Cowboy middle linebacker will be available for the remaining four regular season games and the playoffs. No point in giving up anything for something you already have coming.

I don't see the MLB back in Dallas. Didn't they give his 56 to another player already?
