Do you think Dallas could make a trade for DE with the trade deadline looming?

Guess we're going to get one of these "Hey let's trade for a DE" posts every day until the trading deadline...

Who am I kidding?

We'll be getting those way past the trading deadline.

I have no clue what the team will do with McClain.

The simple truth is that Jerry is loyal to a fault, and Jason seems equally loyal to McClain, due to the Saban connection.

Is McClain dependable? No.
Is he a team guy? Yes and no. Teammates love him but the dependability issue is huge.

Now, does he make our defense better once he is on the field? I think that answer is Yes.

He'll either be in shape in 4 more games or he won't be. If he isn't, this decision becomes much easier.

I believe the only reason he's not officially cut is because if we cut a suspended player, we are on the hook for money. If we wait until the suspension ends, we recoup that money. How much? I don't know.

McClain is done....gone
RGregory is under contract for 3 more cheap years and still can help......if he can contribute at all this year that would be a bonus

Mortgage your future? First of all, any player you might get at this point in the season is probably going to cost some lower round picks. So it's not like you are trading a first rounder here.

But let's say the Texans decided to move Clowney, for example. I'd definitely consider throwing a 2nd round pick at them for him.
I would too! Not a bad trade for us.

I would love to get a decent pass rusher in here! We are close. All the teams look beatable, just 1-2 players could make the difference from making it to the first rd of the playoffs or making it to the super bowl.

With all that being said, I don't think that the FO will make any significant moves. I'd love to see Peppers and freeney in here w tank while we are in our playoff run

That is right.....it doesn't cost a roster spot so there is no harm

His signing bonus was 750k....we could get all of that rebated if we waited out the suspension...that is cash and cap space.....we will also be off the hook for his base salary of 1.25m and his LTBE incentive of 639k

All in all they can get 2.6m in cap space back

I'm going the other direction. I think Jerry is going to double-down on his opportunity this season to make a run. I could see a scenario of us making a draft pick(s) for player deal for sure.

Yes ... because there are tons of All-Pro level DE's on the trading block who will come for cheap.

If I was the front office I would explore the possibility of a trade. I would look at one of the teams who is done, SF, Cleveland or any other 1-5 team and see if there is a veteran player on the roster who can come in and help for the run. As an example, and just as an example, Brooks or Bowman in SF. If you can get them for a mid round draft choice, and their contract is workable, why not. Both those guys could definitely better than what we have now. Again, these two players I mentioned as just an example.

Bowman tore his Achilles and Brooks has a sexual assault charge against him and was rated the worst pass rusher by PFF last year

Read it again, I said it was an example, I said it several times!
