Do you think Dallas could make a trade for DE with the trade deadline looming?

I always thought Bruce Carter could have been the prototypical situational speed rusher. Even could have put on a few lbs and almost be an every down RDE. Less thinking in that role than LBer and he always made things happen on a blitz or special teams. A Freeny type of player.

I guess we'll never know.

I missed it. Could you link the source that says Ro will not play?
Ro hasn't been with the team all season and off season. Only reason he wasn't cut was because it was cheaper vs the cap to cut him after 10 games. Plus they never put a name plate with his name on it at the star, but they did for Gregory.

He'd be perfect for this team right now but he's unfocused and selfish, he doesn't deserve to be a part of this

Cheaper to keep her, ahem keep him. LOL

He is spending time with his kids. At least that was the excuse.

With his flaws, Carter is the 2nd best LB on this team.

5-1 dude, player trades are for losing seasons, GMs trying to keep their job, or depth issues

Not true at all.

In 1992, a key deal was made during the season that improved the defense quite a bit, and I'm not talking about Charles Haley.

The Cowboys acquired Thomas Everett for a fifth round pick after the loss to the Eagles. Everett improved the defense with his hitting ability, and it also got Ray Horton off the field, who was a complete liability in coverage.

I don't see the MLB back in Dallas. Didn't they give his 56 to another player already?

I would love to get a decent pass rusher in here! We are close. All the teams look beatable, just 1-2 players could make the difference from making it to the first rd of the playoffs or making it to the super bowl.

With all that being said, I don't think that the FO will make any significant moves. I'd love to see Peppers and freeney in here w tank while we are in our playoff run

Problem is that was under Jimmy and 20 years ago. But I'm hoping too.

Would love to see us trade for a pass rusher. I haven't checked who all the potential free agents are after the season but some team could have a pass rusher they feel they may lose in free agency and this would be an opportunity for them to get something for that player. However not many if any teams are going to want to part with a pass rusher at this stage of the season. Trading Romo would be about the only way we could come up with a viable pass rusher.

It's a trade for draft picks. Draft picks are NFC currency. It's cleaner and easier for trades.

Jerry will look at it this way:
-We have a mostly young roster
-We landed 2, maybe 3 first rounders last year
-We have an opportunity here and I'm 74 damn it

As I've said before...I could see the Cowboys offering up to this for a pass rusher that is good and will play at a high level for a few years...

1st round 2017
3rd round 2017
----
2nd round 2018

For a rental player...an older guy... the price would be a lot lower.

Jerry won't be offering that much for a pass rusher during the season and any pass rusher that's worth that much a contending team wouldn't dare part with them. By the trade deadline most teams will still be in the race and I can't think of a real bad team that has a pass rusher worth a #1 and a #3. Most teams don't like making trades for draft picks with half the season to go, they want a player that can help them now.
