Does any team draft better than Dallas?

What makes me happy is that the team is one of the top teams in the league with the best player in the league. This team is exciting and has a chance to win each and every game. If you can't get excited you must be dead.
Nobody said anything about excitement? We are talking about success here.

I think we’re solid in round 1, terrible in round 2, and average beyond that.
The actual facts show otherwise
We may not draft the best in the league and that would constantly change each year. But over last 5-6 years we’ve drafted near the top of the league every year based on the players you drafted and what they’ve done in the nfl. And that’s not just the ones you kept

Apparently Seattle does. Built themselves a championship team with lots on non-first rounders, and looks like they may have done it again.

Long-term, I’ve always respected the Ravens draft decisions.

Also have to consider the value of the pick and the player and position chosen. Like if someone gets a really good kicker, does that count the same as Micah?

Conversely, a few teams have drafted perennial pro bowl QBs over the last 5 years. Those guys are worth 3-4 pro bowlers at other positions. So when you look at a Cincinnati who’s gotten Burrow AND Jamar Chase AND Tee Higgins AND Logan Wilson all in the last 3 drafts and they directly led to a SB birth… that’s a team that’s drafting insanely well

Let’s suppose the answer to the OP is no, no one drafts better than Dallas.

That being the case, why aren’t the on the field results there, and why has no one in the FO addressed this?

I don’t think personnel is the problem.

The results? Have you been watching this season? They are really good.

Sure have, and I’ve even at least halfway taught myself that enjoying the ride is the way to go….

But maybe we should see things come to fruition (to a reasonable extent) before we declare ourselves kings of the draft.

I don’t dispute that they draft well, but I do think that they miss the boat in other areas, probably because we don’t have a conventional GM situation.

But I know you’ll argue/defend the Jones twins to the death, and I’m just not up for doing that today, or at this point in a so far nice season.

Got a game tomorrow and we need a W. Let’s agree on that!

It's not just drafting well. Keeping your own players have added benefits. They know the system. They can concentrate on improving those things that are needed of them within the system. Also, they know the strengths and tendencies of their teammates. This contributes to cohesion and efficiency.

I think this is why you see players continue to improve, even the ones we might have thought couldn't improve.

And how did they accomplish that? By losing. Can't get all those good players in the bottom half of the first round.

Lack of talent in certain areas/at certain positions is a big part of the problem.

How are you defining "drafts well"?
Team record?
Number of pro bowl players?
Number of drafted players re-signed?
Playoff appearances?
IMO, there is only one way to evaluate "drafts well." Super bowl contention. All else pales in comparison.
