Does Garrett survive this scenario?

This scenario doesn't deserve serious consideration, Garrett stays even if they miss the playoffs. He's been able to make progress despite having the gray-haired gremlin as a co-pilot,,, a feat that few coaches could manage and something Jerry desperately needs in a coach. If this team doesn't reach their newly minted expectations it will be because of a defense short on talent.

I can't imagine Jerry firing Jason if we go 11-5, under any circumstance. We're on too good a path, with too obvious an opportunity to get better next year just by adding talent on defense. Any shake up adds more uncertainty than it resolves.

I just worry that Garrett will never give us any kind of edge schematically.

Dallas needs to evolve and captain basic can't get us there.

Can't see why he should stay if we miss the playoffs again.
Especially if we imploded to 8-8.

After a 7-1 start, we're 1-3 over the past 4 games.

Sort of tells us something ...

Jerry might be doing the second smartest thing he's ever done since buying the team. the first was obviously hiring Jimmy. the second is waiting to extend JG till after this season.

Missing the playoffs at 11-5 is a severe outlier, so I think you definitely keep him under those circumstances. 9-7 and out of the playoffs, on the other hand would be a pretty bad collapse after an 8-3 start, and I think he needs to go (but I thought that last year if they went 8-8 too).

Missing the playoffs at 10-6, which is a little unlucky, but not that unusual, would be interesting. I would lean toward letting him go, but I think 10 wins would be enough for Jerry to keep the status quo.

What does Jason do under the current configuration - with the 2 x head coaches running the offense and defense? I haven't seen him actually speak into the mike during that last few games. Maybe he did today? Didn't see the game yet.

I think JG is safe and will be the HC next year, however, it's very painful to look at the Eagles as see how they went out to the college ranks and with the hire of Kelly instantly got themselves a coach who, even at his worst, will always be better than the guy the Cowboys have had at the helm the past 5 years in JG.

It really just sums up Jason Garrett. He's had long enough to build a program here. It doesn't take half a decade to win if you've got the right coach.

He shouldn't survive any scenario other than winning in the playoffs if Jim Harbaugh is available and can be brought to Dallas ... I do think getting him would be remote, he smarter than that.

After the comments his brother made laughing at the Cowboys in his book some years back, I'm pretty sure he'd be smarter than to come here. Would love to see him though.

If we miss the playoffs and Garrett is brought back, I'm probably not going to waste time watching these games until a reasonable HC is brought in. This team will no longer be the cowboys, but rather the dallas jones and the dallas garretts. This is the year for Garrett to show up. NO excuses. We started 6 and 1. If we can't win this year with this O-line, then how are we ever going to win, especially in a division with Chip Kelly? How many more years do we need for 'the process' when Kelly went to the playoffs in year 1 and is probably going again this year? This is the year Garrett HAS to step up.

Plus he had a Top 7 QB in this league the whole time as opposed to Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez
