Does Jeremiah know what he's talking about? Claims Romo or Garappolo headed to Bears

If you're referring to Romo's retirement option, that still doesn't preclude JJ from making a deal with any team he wants to.

That being said, no way does Jerry do that. He's got no to allow Romo some input in determining where he goes.

The only thing that's going to make it worth it for Romo to continue playing football and risking further injury is a chance to play in the Super Bowl. No reason to keep going unless he's on a team that has a chance. Just isn't worth risking his quality of life after football playing for a team that needs to rebuild or has OL issues. If he has all these TV offers coming his way it's going to give him something to think about, especially if he doesn't see a good opportunity of having success with the teams that want him.

I agree. I think romo would rather back up dak then go to a crappy team.

No offense, because I really do appreciate your posts and their wealth of info...but it's sort of misleading to say "since 2013" when referring to a player who didn't play at all in 2016 (minus a pointless week 17 game) and missed basically all of 2015 due to injury.

Right. We are just going to send him wherever.

That's not how you treat guys like Romo if you ever want to retain a player

"Retaining a player"
Lol at you thinking that 99% of players play for anything but money and would not go wherever the money is

Yeah. It is.

It also is how you build a crap franchise that no one wants to play for.

No good owner would ever embrace your perspective. Dumb owners certainly would.

Yes because NE is s crap franchise that "no one wants to play for"

No, you do what is vest for your TEAM not for 1 player. THAT is the way to build a great franchise

The last thing Jerry wants to see is Romo lead the other team in Texas to the Super Bowl. If Romo ends up in Houston it won't be by trade.

You can bet tony will sign with Houston with that defense and being in state
By that logic there is no way Jerry would cut him because Romo would be free to sign

Exactly. The Pats Jimmy G is a completely different case. He can't realistically threaten retirement.

Romo could threaten it--with enough force that it would suffocate any trade to a team like Cleveland or the Bears.

And he could also be threatened if he tried to go that route. He wants to retire? Fine. Pay back the $5 million you owe in unearned bonus money for the opportunity to walk away from $54 million in future earnings, for a total loss of $59 million.

Have fun working in TV for the next 30 years to try to make up for it!

I think that's a truly stupid claim for Jeremiah or anyone else to make. If that's where Romo wants to go, and they're willing to make a deal, Jerry's not going to worry about in-state anything. He's never had to worry about the Texans, and he never will.

Another point I found hilarious was Eisen quoting Houston's mouthpiece John McClain as saying "no way Houston will trade for him".

Really idiot? So they're happy to waste another year with the guy they benched before his first season there was over? They want to go into 2018 with no answers at quarterback after turning their back on the opportunity to guarantee themselves one? And then change out their entire coaching staff because they failed to win with Osweiler?

You expect anyone to buy that?

Yeah, who wouldn't jump at the chance to move his family to the murder capital of the world? That place is out of control.....

Lol, I hate to say it but if you think Houston is much better your mistaken. But yes if Im Romo I want know part of either of them. Give me Denver or something to that extent.

Some are bringing up the Bears but they need a young quarterback to build with. Don't see any point in moving on from Cutler and bringing in a short term answer like Romo who you can't look past next year with. Yes Romo is much better than Cutler but within a year or two they're going to need another quarterback because I don't see Romo staying healthy. Even Cutler had injury problems.

I agree. However theres no telling how desperate Chicago is.

I predict he will be a Bear. The Bears are not as bad as some think. Defense is avg with some very good young pieces and the offense has some real potential in Kevin White, Cam Meredith, Jordan Howard, etc. The Bears are terrible on the Oline which could result in Romo dieing next year. If they get Romo I expect them to do everything possible to shore up that Oline. The Bears have Josh Sitton which is a nice piece if they sign Leary that would give the Bears a very good Guard tandem. I think Leary is about to get a monster contract. Many teams will be bidding for his services. Let's remember John Fox MUST win this season or he will be out in Chicago.

As long as Romo's contract is what it is, he has very little trade value.
I don't think that's true. I have read that a team taking on Romo's contract will only be on the hook for $14M this next year...that's not a lot for a starting QB, especially of the caliber of Romo. A far bigger obstacle to his trade value is concern for his future health, IMO. Because of that, he very likely will have to redo his contract to more of an incentive-laden type deal based on games played, playoffs, etc.
