Does Jeremiah know what he's talking about? Claims Romo or Garappolo headed to Bears

They aren't trading face-of-the-franchise type guys. They never do Brady like this

If Brady lost his starting job, they would. That's what makes the Patriots as good as they are. They don't let emotions get in the way of sound football decisions.

And yet the Patriots have no problems getting players to come to them and play. Why? Because they win. So we can stop with this silly rationale that only bad teams just cut/trade players without taking into account how they feel. LOL.

If Jerry decides to just give Romo whatever he wants, that's a mistake. His focus should be on the Cowboys and making them better, not what makes Romo feel better. And I like Romo, but this is bigger than him at this point.

We don't win so we have to be nice and overpay to get good players come to our team. Jerry is the owner and can do anything he wants and usually does. We don't have to stop with the sill rationale because the way I said it is the way the FO does it. You might not like it but, you don't own the team and aren't making any decisions for them. Only pontificating like the rest of us mortals.

Neither is Dallas.

And New England fears nothing and nobody. They do what's best for them, and players beat down their doors to be part of it.

New England did the exact same thing to the exact same guy (Bledsoe) that Tony Romo replaced.

Romo got 'Tom Brady'd just like the guy he Tom Brady'd got Tom Brady'd in New England.

Oh I know Jerry can do whatever he wants. I think the point here is that if he bows to Romo's wishes, he's making a mistake. His first priority should be the Cowboys, not what Romo wants.

Which any rational owner would do. If Jerry does anything else, he's not only screwing himself, he's screwing anyone and everyone who has anything to do with the Cowboys. Including the fans.

Right. We are just going to send him wherever.

That's not how you treat guys like Romo if you ever want to retain a player
How you treat guys? Check the salary for sitting the last 2 years.

That was 14 years ago. He's been in Texas and playing in Texas weather for a long, long time.

Pickers can't be choosers here. If he wants to play football, there's a good chance it will be not his first choice.

Jerry's made lots of mistakes over the years but, you have to give him credit in that he believes in spending all the cap to try and
get the best team he can put on the field. I think he will work with Romo so that both parties can live with the results. You do know
that Jerry wants a relationship with his adopted son after his playing days. Tony is Godfather to his grandson for pete sakes.

Maybe not his first choice but, one of his top 3 I bet... And, that is if Jerry just doesn't release Tony to pick his next team.
Remember, he did that for DeMarcus Ware.

Trades require a dance partner. Hard to get value when everyone knows you can't keep a player. Look at the Bears attempt to trade Cutler. How many suitors do you think they will get? The League knows they have to release Cutler so why dance with the Bears when I can dance with Cutler's agent directly when he is released.

The League knows Dak is the Cowboys QB. The League is aware of Romo's cap number this season. No way the Cowboys will carry him on the roster. At most I'd offer a 5th or 6th conditional pick. Not because that's all Romo is worth but because this may be a barn sale since Dallas will end up releasing him anyway.

Guess we all shall see very soon.

Yeah, but they did that with Ware because they had no choice. They couldn't manage his cap number any longer and kicked that can down the road as far as they could. (Though I'm sure some number cruncher will still try to claim otherwise).

Romo's number isn't good for a backup, but based on how little they're paying Dak, it's affordable to have both guys. They could keep him if they truly wanted to, and they can sit on the contract for months until somebody makes an acceptable offer.

And if Tony can or chooses to threaten anything, so can Jerry and the Cowboys. If he wants things to get ugly, they can get ugly. But that's not what anyone wants and I don't expect it to happen.

But this is a two-way street here, not simply what Romo wants.

As I've said many times Stash, Jerry loves him some Tony and is not going to stick it to him. Tony took a big slap this last year to save the FO because it has been a standing tradition that players do not lose their job due to injury. Jerry will try and trade Tony if a decent team
makes an offer and if Tony agrees. If not, I expect Jerry to release Tony to find his next team. Other players in the league will notice.

I definitely see both sides doing that.

As a very last resort maybe, after each and every other avenue has been exhausted, meaning at no time soon.

Other players in the league will notice.

"Notice" what? What exactly are you trying to say by this?

He's trying to say if Jerry ships Romo to a team that Romo doesn't want to go to, free agents won't want to come and play for the Cowboys.

Frankly, that logic is a steaming pile of you know what.

Everyone including the players knows the NFL is a business. If players see their fellow players or teammates being mistreated in their eyes and evaluation, they would tend
not to sign with those teams in FA. Players like to leave San Diego for a reason.

Yeah, let's just send him wherever. Say Cleveland for a first.

"Oh, you don't want to play for Cleveland? So what! What are you gonna do? Oh wait...You are retiring.... And the deal is voided? "

Way to go. Force him to retire, get nothing. Yep, that's how ya treat guys.

You might get nothing for him anyway. And some here are suggesting he should be cut anyway, which gets you nothing, as a favor to him so he can sign wherever.

So foolish...Jerry has never run the Cowboys like that. He wants players to want to come to the Cowboys...not leave.

Yep, and it's a successful model

Just look at how this model has given us multiple championships in the last 20 years. Why those great players have just flocked to the Cowboys because of how player friendly Jerry is

Franchises like NE and Pittsburgh who don't coddle or overpay for players have nothing to show for their model

Yes, let's keep doing what we're doing because it has been a resounding success

Wake up, players sign where there is more money or where they can win a SB. Period :star:
