I want to preface this by saying i have never been, nor will I ever bee a conspiracy theorist. I can't help but notice that the NFL has been against all things Dallas Cowboys recently. From the Dez no catch/catch, to the Hardy suspension to now the NFFC being cancelled one moth before it was scheduled to happen. Romo was right in his recent interview on The Fan; the timing of this is highly suspect.
The NFL had MONTHS to let Romo know he needed to change the venue because of some rules he didn't know about. What's even more curious is that The Lions and other organizations have events and activities on casino grounds but the NFL doesn't say anything about it. If I were Romo I would still have the event somewhere else on the same day, but don't associate it with the NFL. Romo should just throw a party and invite all of the players that were scheduled to come and still allow all the people who had bought tickets to come.
The reason I bring this up is because of this upcoming season. I would like to think that the NFL front office doesn't get directly involved in affecting teams performance and how well they do throughout the season. I also can't help but notice favoritism for certain teams throughout the league (Patriots being the Prime example). I love the sport of football and I love my Dallas Cowboys, but if the NFL doesn't start showing a move towards complete unbiased judgments towards teams and enforcing rules for EVERYONE, I feel it will lead to the downfall of the NFL.
Look at FIFA right now. Everyone has said for years that there was corruption at the top level in that sport, but no one was brave enough (until now) to do anything about it. That's part of the reason I don't watch soccer is because of the corruption, the refs missing blatant calls and that players flopping worse than any sport in the world. Look back to the women's world cup 4 years ago against Brazil, a Brazilian player faked an injury (to the point of being helped off on a stretcher!) to allow her team to set up a play. When as soon as she was off the field, she hopped right up like nothing was wrong. It ultimately back fired on them. It's acts like this, and like the ones the NFL has been pulling off lately, that lead to the integrity of the sport being questioned. Goodell has done NOTHING good for this sport. He's a laughing stock around the sports world and is seen as a puppet. He needs to be ousted right now.
Sorry for the long post. Those are just some thoughts I've been having lately. Thoughts guys?
/steps off soap box
What does Romo's event have to do with the Cowboys?
Could you name any of the millionaire referees? I would like to research their financial backgrounds.Just a side thought, if people don't think some of the same stiff that is going on in FIFA doesn't go on in the NFL, they have some serious blinders on. With billions of dollars on the line. Billion dollar TV deals. Games in foreign countries. A league that pays it's boss 44 Million a year. A league where super bowls can go to places like NY and Detroit in the middle of winter. (Safety haha) ... A league where Referees are millionaires. A league where Vegas runs the league, at least privately. There is no way some of the same bribes, payoffs, and side deals don't take place. Perhaps one day we will catch a peak inside some of the ugliness...
I don't know but whenever I see your user name, I can't get those old commercials out of my head where it's like, "the touch, the feel of cotton... the fabric of our lives!"

That's where I got the inspiration from! that and my last name is Cotton
Only Dallas and Washington were penalized cap space relative to the uncapped year.
The Erik Williams rule.
The Michael rule.
The Roy (Safety) Williams rule.
It's not just Cowboys fans that refer to those rules by the name of the player. It is common knowledge that those rules were put in place to limit those specific players.
The Catch and Hardy are minor compared to the other issues like the ones listed above.
To the ones that say the league is not against the cowboys, can you name a single penalty any professional sports league has applied to any team that is as absurd as the cap penalty on the Cowboys?
Let's look at the facts of the cap penalty:
1. There was no CBA and no Cap at the time. So there was no rule preventing a team from going over a specific amount. The cowboys did not break any rules.
2. The league approved the contracts. If a rule was broken, why approve them??
3. The league sent teams letters warning them that they should not structure contracts so that they would take advantage of the uncapped year. However, if there is no CBA, the NFL has no capacity to order teams to spend less. In fact, if there is no CBA, ordering teams to treat the year as a normal capped year would be collusion. It is illegal.
4. Mara said we broke the spirit of the rule. This is such nonsense I don't know where to begin. Teams need to follow official rules, not some "spirit of a rule" whatever that means.
Seriously, can anyone point to another professional league that has done something like this?
Gimme a break. That was a rule implemented for safety reasons - and wisely so. Before 2004, we would occasionally (but rarely) see a horse collar tackle until Roy Williams came along and purposefully made that move part of his regular repertoire. The Roy (Safety) Williams rule.

I cannot stand Terrell Owens but that tackle is dangerous and it should be illegal.
It is referred to the Roy Williams rule by other NFL fans/media, not just the Cowboys fans.
One such rule could be coincidental; however, having multiple rules for players on the same team is not coincidence.
Roy Williams
Erik Williams
Michael Irvin
Emmitt Smith
The ordeal with the cap penalty was definitely pushed through by Mara of the Giants. That's not anybody's imagination.
So Paul Tagliabue had it in for us as well, since some of these rules came under his watch.
The NFL office has always been in New York CIty, IIRC.
The Commissioner is not making the rules by himself. He does it with help from other NFL Office employees most of which are from the North East and live in NYC at the time the rules were made.
An easy example is the woman that did the Hardy investigation. She is a die hard Giants fan.
