Does winning against Seattle even matter?

With all due respect, that's the wrong way to look at it.

What matters is what the other team's record is at the time you play them. The "their no longer a winning team" view if you beat them doesn't hold water because the reason they aren't a winning team is because you beat them.
It was meant as a joke. Given as many people use that reasoning I can see why it could be misconstrued.

You absolutely should adjust win totals and take out wins and losses when comparing other's records to your own performance. I am just not going to bother talking stats with this lot.

Take it any way you want- because I know you will.
But I simply stated the truth. Dak needs to keep showing improvement and reach the level that he's paid to be at so the Cowboys can hope to enter into the playoffs with a real quarterback for the first time since Dak took over.
No one likes having to point out Dak's shortcomings, but as long as he is paid like an elite QB we have the right to demand that he plays like one in every situation.
So far he hasn't, but there is a glimmer of hope that he might finally be learning.
Clown post. You're all about shortcomings.

Beat Seattle because it will help the Rams. Hope LA makes the playoffs instead...they're not great either but maybe a healthy Stafford/Kupp/Donald could give SF more trouble in the first round than Seattle.

Or is it the losing? Because the way I figure it, Seattle is 6-5. If we win then they become 6-6 and then they are no longer a winning team. We won but its not a winning team so it doesn't matter.

OTOH, it they lose then Seattle is a winning 7-5 team and we cannot beat winning teams.

FWIW, I find the whole 'winning teams' argument to be asinine but I also figure that if people want to be wagged by ESPN then let them.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys narrative seems to have them in a no win situation from most fans perspective.
Especially here.

Of course it matters...keep winning and let the chips fall how they may. The loss to the Cardinals certainly matters...

I honestly dont know the answer you are looking for.
I will take a win anyway I can get it.
I do value wins over the better teams, because thats what we will be seeing in the playoffs.
I think what I was going for was when the Eagles beat an average team then they’re invincible. When we win then it’s “the team wasn’t very good” narrative. I guess I was just pointing out the goalposts getting moved for Dallas by the media and by the fans. But yes I definitely want the win against Seattle. I just hope we don’t the narrative that Seattle is an average team so it doesn’t mean anything. All wins mean something IMO and it’s annoying when the Eagles beat an average team they’re Super Bowl contenders, when we beat an average team then we beat up on bad teams.

I hear you!
I think the Seahawks will be a good measurement of where the team is at.
I would pick us at home against any team right now.

It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game.
There is a glimmer of hope that this year might be different because of the way Dak battled against the Eagles- albeit in a loss. All anyone ever asked from Dak was that he didn't choke against teams that were top tier. He actually seemed to have finally have grasped what he was supposed to be accomplishing vs the Eagles.
It's in no way vindication for the past seven years, but if he can show that he FINALLY can be the quarterback that he's being paid to be, the Cowboys have hope. If not, it was simply a lucky day and he needs to be gone.
See: Vincent James Lombardi

a win would basically ensure the Seabags will not finish ahead of us as we will be 3 games up with 5 to play and with the tiebreaker, so basically four up, we would only need to win 1 game or have them lose one to be ahead of them in a tiebreaker scenario. I get that it could be a 3 way tie etc but at the end of the day, it is better to have the first tiebreaker than not.

You play the teams on your schedule. You don’t control their record but you can contribute to them being a losing team lol

Do I respond to the ignorance that this thread is? I mean I can just scroll by

Nah of course it’s important all regular season games matter

If you don’t think so then why watch just show up for the playoffs
