Does winning against Seattle even matter?

Or is it the losing? Because the way I figure it, Seattle is 6-5. If we win then they become 6-6 and then they are no longer a winning team. We won but its not a winning team so it doesn't matter.

OTOH, it they lose then Seattle is a winning 7-5 team and we cannot beat winning teams.

FWIW, I find the whole 'winning teams' argument to be asinine but I also figure that if people want to be wagged by ESPN then let them.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys narrative seems to have them in a no win situation from most fans perspective.
Anybody .500 or better counts in my book. The rest are playing for draft position.

This just totally proves the OP's point lmao.

The game against Philly in the regular season doesn't count, neither does the game against TB. The only standard for youis what Dak hasn't done.
Take it any way you want- because I know you will.
But I simply stated the truth. Dak needs to keep showing improvement and reach the level that he's paid to be at so the Cowboys can hope to enter into the playoffs with a real quarterback for the first time since Dak took over.
No one likes having to point out Dak's shortcomings, but as long as he is paid like an elite QB we have the right to demand that he plays like one in every situation.
So far he hasn't, but there is a glimmer of hope that he might finally be learning.

Seattle is a playoff caliber opponent, win or loss. Buffalo in 2 weeks may very well be under .500 by the time Dallas plays them. They are definitely a playoff caliber opponent. Who cares what or how the media spins it. Don't get tripped up by all this media generated nonsense.

Haha. I almost thought you were jumping over the ledge. I completely agree with everything you said and your sentiments.

Of course it matters. Going into the final stretch of the season facing teams that will likely be in the playoffs except the final game is a huge litmus test for how things could go in the playoffs.

Dare to be stupid!
Reminds me of some advice I received before going in front of a meritorious promotion board:

(Paraphrasing) Be confident in your answers. Even if during further questioning you realize it was the wrong answer, show confidence in your initial response no matter what.

I understand why they do that in the military; Its hard to follow a leader who doesn't know what their doing.

But man, is that about as backwards as it can get in real life.

In any case, you summed up that experience quite nicely with "Dare to be stupid!"
:lmao2:

is this thread for real? The Cowboys don’t have a wildcard locked up yet, so beating Seattle matters.

I am with you the prognosticators use those as built in goal post mover.

Somebody got triggered, LOL

Bottom line, you need to beat the teams on your schedule. Regular season is about playoff positioning. But in order to advance in the playoffs you are going to need to beat *gasp* teams with winning records and eventually top tier teams with winning records.

If you are only winning against .500ish teams or worse then there’s a good chance you aren’t going to win the 3-4 consecutive postseason games against winning teams that it will take to reach/win a SB.

Hilarious though that people are getting bent over whether beating a 7-5 or 6-6 team is good.

With all due respect, that's the wrong way to look at it.

What matters is what the other team's record is at the time you play them. The "their no longer a winning team" view if you beat them doesn't hold water because the reason they aren't a winning team is because you beat them.

It’s looking like we have to go undefeated in the final six to even sniff the 1 seed. Otherwise, we’re essentially locked into the 5 seed. I’ll hold out hope but if we lose a game, the rest of the regular season will be very anticlimactic.

Yep, our path to the division title was based mainly on our winning out in our "easy" games while Philly was slogging through their "tough" schedule, so that we could make up the two-win deficit. Though that wasn't really much hope since the Eagles get to play the sorry Giants in two of the last 3 games, based on the Iggle's current team that's two easy wins at least.

But now Philly has defeated the Chiefs and the Bills, half of the "tough" teams. At worst they will still be tied with Dallas even if they lose to the 49ers and Cowboys. After that, the schedules reverse, now we have "tough" games and the Iggles have "easy" games. Based on Dallas losing to the only "winning" teams they have played (and lost to the now 2-10 Cards), winning out against the Eagles, Bills, Dolphins and Lions seems implausible.

You never know, the Iggles lose Hurts for several games, for example, and things could change dramatically.

But just like I've lost hope for my Cowboys winning the SB for years now, and just watching the games and take what happens, I am not holding any hope of catching Philly for the division title, either. Hate feeling that way, but that's what 27 years of no championships will do to a fella....
