Does Zeke have any shot at the Hall of Fame?

I mean, no, since Derrick Henry took that mantle and won Offensive Player of the Year. I imagine Henry is going to start breaking down soon too.

Zeke hasn't done anything remarkable to be considered HOF. AP was the last RB to have a true case for canton.
So do you feel like no RB will ever be accepted into the HOF again?

If Zeke was a giant would anybody on this board mention him and the HOF in the same sentence?
HELL NO.

I'm sure one will come along - Henry and Chubb are the only ones in the league right now with potential. But like with most RBs, they are good one season and then the next there is a rapid decline.

I find it funny how people think Romo Dez and EzE should be in the HOF. These dudes were average. They never made it to a NFC championship game. They weren't special. They accomplished nothing in the grand scheme of the NFL.

Joe Thomas played for the Browns his entire career.. Go look up how many championship games he played in.. Guys can be great players but get stuck in circumstances that prevent them from getting to championship games... Does anybody here think Demarcus Ware became any better player when he left Dallas at like age 34? Quit holding individual players responsible for team accomplishments or lack thereof. That's just softhead thinking.

You have to watch guys play to adequately determine how dominant they are. For about a three year stretch Dez was as dominant as any receiver in the game. For a three year stretch Zeke was the best runner in the game hands down. I can't blame Dez because Blandino screwed him out of that amazing catch.. Nor can I hold it against Zeke that the defense gave up a 3rd and 19 to let Rodgers get his team in FG range.. or got run over for damn near 300 yards by the Rams. Context matters..

Dak probably has a better shot at the Hall than Zeke but needs a few Super Bowl wins while keeping his stats up. Dak actually has really good stats for his career but needs the playoff success.
Dak has 0 chance

No MvPs, all-pros, only 2 pro bowls etc

He also plays in an era with QBs like Allen, Burrow, Mahomes, Jackson, and Herbert so he wont even have the argument of being one of the best in his era

Joe Thomas was great for 11 years. No way he'd be in the HOF with only 3 great years.

Why make such a declaration? If Kellen Moore has truly seen the light Dak could run off a 3-5 year streak of very efficient play as part of a team making annual deep playoff runs with this defense. Not one of the other guys on this list has a defense as strong as Dallas.. maybe Buffalo but I don't think so.. and not one of them has as good of a running game to complement what he does in the passing game.

Dak is in year 7 at a position that is now routinely a 15 year career position in the modern game. He should continue to get incrementally better each year unless his body starts to fall apart like Romo. The only way Dak doesn't play another 10 years is he gets hurt too much or he just starts to outright suck.

I'm not saying Dak has done enough to be worthy of Hall consideration.. I'm just saying he's still in the first half of his career... and realistically the second half should be the better half just from a numbers standpoint. He's also in good position coaching wise because if McCarthy is retained it will be because he is doing great work and if McCarthy is canned he will be replaced by either Quinn or Payton. Either one should keep the Cowboys playing good football and thus Dak's profile very high.

How many championship games did he play in? Since that was the criteria being used to discredit Zeke and Dez.. Still what you seem to be saying here is that a player can be great while playing on a crappy team and we should acknowledge that.. right?

I'd say Elliott's chances of making the HoF are the same as Chubb's and Henry's. Elliott is the same age as Chubb and Henry is a year older. They will all face the same challenges of age going forward.

Except Henry and Chubb are playing at elite levels. So no, the chances are not the same.

Henry just rushed for over 200 yards. Did Zeke even do that in his prime?

I'm not sure now, especially since he had some greatness stolen from him in his earlier years.

Of the three I would say Henry has the best shot. Because he plays for a team that is absolutely committed to the run.. The Browns are for now but my guess is they stop being that way the instant Watson suits up for them. For the record I still believe Zeke was the best all around football player of the three.. He just landed in the worst situation from a utilization standpoint. At least once "Yards are Yards" got promoted to OC. If Zeke plays these last three seasons for Stefanski or Vrabel, he'd still be on a Hall of Fame track IMHO..

The Cowboys have done that to a lot of great players in recent years.. Pretty damn sad if you ask me.

Except Chubb still trails Elliott by 2000+ yards rushing and 3500+ yards from scrimmage for their careers and they are the same age. By the end of their careers, they will probably have very similar totals.

Yep,
HOF player on an annually poor team was Barry Sanders.

Right now? No way!

Give him a couple of big playoff runs where he discovers the fountain of youth in the postseason, maybe. But RBs seldom get better.
