Zeke Who?. Oh that guy. He has to do something first. He's no where near E Smit or T Dorset quality
I agree. But you don’t have to be.

And his two rushing titles is something . At least when considering best of an era.

Time will tell if he reaches 10,000 rushing yards ( already has 10,000 total yards) or the automatic induction of 12,000 which isn’t as likely.

I could see Jethro enabling him to reach these career marks if he agrees to a team friendly contract.

Yes, yes it is lol

When his freakin' peers were nowhere near his amount of carries, he was being force fed the ball. There is a reason the vast majority of RBs in the league aren't getting that amount of carries and the load is being split - like it is now for Zeke. Zeke got wear and tear on his body BECAUSE of that workload since college.
No, it was because the league was becoming a passing league and Zeke was elite his first few years and we were still a running team. Zeke wore down because he initiated contact and did not try to avoid it. 20 carries is not force fed no matter how you look at it with a possession running team. You can't win an argument on that one!

He should go in the "How to strong arm the owner via holdout when you have no real leverage but you know that the old man is probably drunk and doesn't want to admit that you were a poor position choice in the top 5 of the draft Hall Of Fame."

I’m not sure horrible is an accurate summarization . He was inconsistent. But his longevity and never missing a game due to injury enabled him to put up some impressive career stats.

Eli ranks 8th all time in passing yards and 9th in TD’s NFL history and 1st in Giants history. Besides being a MVP in both SB wins he was a 4 time pro bowler.

I was referring to his postseason games when I said horrible.. I readily acknowledge he was mostly average to decent (though rarely actually "good) during the regular season..

Check out these passer ratings from his playoff games

2005 - 35.0
2006 - 85.6
2007 - 95.7 <-- super bowl year
2008 - 40.5
2011 - 103.3 <-- super bowl year
2016 - 72.1

I see nothing here to refute my assertion that other than those two post season runs he was horrible (in the playoffs.)

And he didn't deserve the MVP award in either. That award has become a running joke. If you're just going to give it to the winning Qb, quit calling it the MVP award.

Yeah that award jumped the shark for me when they gave it to Brady for his 142 yards passing and 1 TD against the Rams.. in a game where the defense held the Rams to 17 points and Ty Law had a pick six off Warner.

That bus driver made two of the best throws in NFL history - one of them legitimately being pinpoint accuracy. "Bus drivers" don't make that throw. We can talk about how Eli played through the majority of his career, but the simple fact is, on the biggest stage in the brightest lights he showed up and played great.

Anyone saying otherwise is just blinded by hatred. Eli won two Super Bowls because he made the tough throws necessary to win.

He made one great throw.. the one to Manningham in the second Super Bowl.. Aint no way in hell I'm going to call that close your eyes and heave it and pray for the the guy to catch it on his helmet a "great throw." A great catch, yes.. even a nice bit of shuffling to avoid the sack.. but a great throw? Hell naw..

No way he was dominant for 3 years and that's it and then dropped of like crazy. If that gets you into the HOF, then it's going to go from a hall to a house pretty damn fast.

I understand but we can’t make up our own rules or parameters if the NFL is operating in another one .

I recall Staubach winning MVP in SB VI when it prob should have gone to Duanne Thomas but since they knew he wouldn't do an interview shunned him. Rogers numbers were minuscule in comparison and our Doomsday was the bigger difference.

Part of recognition is popularity. And being on great teams . Regardless whatever we access it to be as such we must recognize when we are making our assessments. In other words we must lower ourselves to how the NFL conducts itself . I know the argument . Lol

Serious question. Let's say we win a Super Bowl this year, Zeke rushes for

1300 regular season yards plays great in the S.B. where's Zeke chances ?

Ironically that may go in his favor as the last workhouse NFL RB.

He didn't deserve the first one but he 100% earned the 2nd one. Alot of people forget that he actually played really freaking good during the playoffs for that 2nd ring (over 1200 yards, 9 touchdowns, only 1 INT)

For the superbowl he had 75% competition, almost 300 yards, and no turnovers. The only other person on that 2011 Superbowl team that could have realistically gotten the MVP award over him was Justin Tuck (3 tackles and 2 sacks)

I mean, no, since Derrick Henry took that mantle and won Offensive Player of the Year. I imagine Henry is going to start breaking down soon too.

Zeke hasn't done anything remarkable to be considered HOF. AP was the last RB to have a true case for canton.

If that happens I think his chances go up from 40/60 to 50/50.. But I still think he would more on his resume. Maybe another Super Bowl run.. If he gets released here and goes somewhere where they hand him the ball 25 times a game for a couple of years and he leads the league again or comes close that will change the equation as well. The narrative will instantly shift to how stupid the Cowboys were not only for not re-signing him but for not really using him the last three years he was in Dallas.

Yeah Gore (2005) and Peterson (2007) where the last 2 that are no brainers.

The only other one you could maybe argue is Lesean McCoy (2009). His case will be interesting because if they only look at the stat sheet and no context (all decade team, 6x pro bowl, 2x first team all-pro, 2x superbowl champ) then you'd say most likely yes but if you do actually factor in context such as 1. he didn't play in either superbowl and barely played at all for both of those seasons, 2. his touchdown total is pretty low, and 3. He was comically bad at pass blocking then yeah you could say he wouldn't be a no brainer

The HOF is so watered down that he may have a chance. Only reason Gore is getting in is because of longevity....I for one cant remember anything very memorable about him. Its become the Hall of Very Good with stats....maybe Deon is right, they need to have to HOFs, one for the very good and one for the legends.

I would not be so quick to poo poo the achievement that is playing 15 years at a position that eats most guys up in 3-4 years. Gore may never have been considered the very very best in the game during his time in the NFL.. but if that's the criteria wouldn't that disqualify any receiver that overlapped with Jerry Rice? Or any of the 2000 QBs who overlapped with Brady.. including Peyton Manning? Do we dismiss every QB who has overlapped with Rodgers? Mahomes? There is something to be said for being really good for a very long time even if one was never the best of the best.. I know it's a fine line.. but one assumes the voters know the difference. I mean Eli is probably getting in at some point.. and even Giants fans would never accuse of ever having been the best in the game at any point in his career.
