Well he isn't, he choose to leave for a division rival. When he was a cowboys I liked him, now I wish for our defense to take his head off the top of that ugly *** green uniform.

I wish the same but I also wish he was still in a beautiful silver & blue uniform. It's OK to wish for both.

Yea true. It is a business just like you and I go to work everyday and he was looking for more money. I just despise that he went to a rival. He could have had the respect to do like d-ware did and choose to go out of the division.

I really believe he was stuck between a rock & a hard place. If I recall, there were a couple of other teams making a play for his services but those teams had no chance for any levels of success. They also didn't go as hard as Filthy where it was perfectly obvious Chip was really just focused on sticking one to the Cowboys. He didnt have a care in the world as to how Demarco was going to fit into his system at the time.

I also believe Demarco really wanted to stay and was initially taken aback by the whole situation (Cowboys cold shoulder + Chip's superficially warm shoulder).

The best offer initially came from Oakland. Murray called Chip directly (Bradford, his college teammate probably arranged it) and basically sold himself to Chip most likely promising to jump when Chip says jump and to be an ambassador for Chip's wacky offensive system which was a problem for LeSean McCoy.

If we troll the league hard enough, one of these rbs will stick. Not quite like Demarco Murray, Todd Gurley, or Chris Johnson but beggars can't be choosers.

Again, the Cowboys had no chance to draft Todd Gurley.

Oakland would have been a great choice in hindsight!

How can you say that with a straight face? They had plenty to work with in terms of current players with upside and future draft picks. You just need know. Did we even consider it? That's my question.

Because it's true. The pick was made 17 slots ahead. Do you realize how much we would've had to give up? Byron Jones and Randy Gregory at least two potential superstars. Along with probably a first and a second next year. Probably another one as well. St. Louis wasn't about to pass up the chance to draft the best RB prospect since AP not without making someone give up the farm for him.

Do you not follow the draft?

The Cowboys had these picks which all combined are not enough to move up from 27 to 10.
1 27
2 60
3 91
4 127
5 163
7 236
7 243

In 2011 the Falcons moved up from 27 to 6. The cost was as follows:
Current year's:
1st
2nd
4th
Next year's:
1st
4th

That is two 1sst, a 2nd and two 4ths for 1 player. In Gurley's case it's player that had blown out his ACL so there were some risks involved with the injury and his ability to contribute in 2015 was unknown at that time.

What current players would they be able to trade away? Dez?

If a team used the 10th overall pick and RB with an ACL injury they probably really liked the player and it's doubtful they would want to trade that pick away unless the Cowboys have way overpaid in compensation.

I'm not going to argue it guys. You're too long winded for me. You win  I'll just say that it would be interesting to know whether or not they even considered the possibility.

I'm certain they considered drafting him if he was available at 27.

Right smart guy. I want to know if they considered moving up (aka wheeling & dealing). Were they even looking at Gurley as a remote possibility? Was he on their draft board at all? I need to know. Those details will eventually come out. They always do.

Given the huge deficit we had at rb going in, conventional wisdom would say they might have been looking to make a rb splash in the draft.

I disagree. Conventional wisdom is NOT to take a RB high or certainly trade for one since you can find plenty of good ones even outside the first.

Ok. I can see that. But I still want to know if they even considered wheeling & dealing to move up. It'll help me sleep better at night.
