I cannot believe you said that we were promised a great team. First, I never heard anyone say that. Now, I know Jethro talks all the time and he hucksters people about how the team is talented and a contender. I have not fallen for that BS for about 5 years, you obviously did not get that memo. You must be a young'n and have not experienced the decades of deceit and promises made by the Jones family as they set out to fleece every fan that was gullible enough to believe them. Butt when you look at this team in the cold light of day, it is fairly easy to see that at their best, they are mediocre. Win some lose some and average about 9-7. They are the epitome of non-contenders. They have not won a meaningful playoff game in 30 years. They are managed by a brilliant businessman and a buffoon of a general manager. There is no reason to believe that this team will ever compete as long as the Jones's are in charge. I have resigned myself to care less. I watch the games and if we win it is a plus. I expect to lose. The defense is so embarrassing that it makes being a fan and embarrassment as well. In my decades of watching the NFL, I can tell you that I have never seen a more pitiful defense. Our players pretty much suck and the coaching is making their incompetence even more glaring. We could not do any worse if we laid down and let the other team run and pass as if no one was playing defense. Our offense is way over-rated. Our offensive line gets shut down by good defensive teams. We have no push. We wasted a number one on Booker who can't pass block. We should have taken Tyler Warren. Ferguson is a JAG at best. CeeDee and Pickens are legitimate stars, as is Aubrey, everyone else is mediocre. There is no one on defense that is good. Not one. Bland is the most serviceable but even he is over-rated. This team is just bad and there is nothing they can or will do that will make any difference this year.

What message is being sent to the fans, the team, and the NFL when a team that is currently second in the division, has a pretty potent offense doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to try and improve a HISTORICALLY BAD defense? Why should anyone even watch this clown show? It’s mind boggling. Zero accountability.

Trade two number ones for a star defensive player?

Teams are not going to give away their best players who are under contract without receiving compensation that they can’t say no too. You will overpay for if you trade for Crosby, Williams, or Simmons. Teams won’t even take the Cowboys call if they don’t offer a 1st.

There are plenty of teams that are 1-2 players away that should be in a better position to make a postseason run, and those should be the ones pushing hard. Iggles, GB, Det, Tampa, Rams, Seahawks, to name a few.

It means for once they are being smart and realistic or heck maybe just cheap and stumbling into the right move by accident but still doing the right thing. This is not a SB winning team. Don't waste your assets making a bad to average team an average to slightly better than average team. Any moves should be based on a 2 to 4 year time line, not this season.

Yeah. I would think after the Historically Bad defense we had last year, to follow up with a worse defense this year..a coaching change would be my first move. EBER has had 8 weeks to show improvement, and it’s not there.
Could you get 2 quality players with a first round pick? I think so.

What would be the point? This isn't a playoff team. Adding one or two defensive players isn't changing that.
