No way no how can this team let him go.

Developing talent only to watch it go somewhere else is completely stupid.

You forget. We have T.O. so Miles Austin is expendable. (I'll let you choose the appropriate smilie.)

He isn't going anywhere. I don't get those who are in panic over this.

What are our options for RFA offers on Miles?

He's clearly a guy who has earned a good long look next year - so he'll likely end up getting much more than he "deserves" at this point

I think a 1st round tender is 2.2 million.

2nd round is like 1.7, I think.....

I'd say those are the options.

Thanks -- Second is the only way to go. He was undrafted so the regular tender of about $1 million only leverages the right to match but no compensation if he leaves.

So that's another half mill or so to keep folks from giving him a bigger deal.

Gotta tender Austin, if he nets a 2nd or 1st, fine.

This problem is less about TO and more about Jerry's decision to get RW in the middle of the season and see him rendered a moot point via Garrett, etc.

  1. TO was extended prior to 2008 (pre blowup/drama/whatever)
  2. Austin had a great camp, got hurt
  3. Austin showed something at GB and gets hurt again after Wash game
  4. Austin misses next game and passing game struggles (as does running game)
  5. Jerry gets nervous after the Wash loss, Az loss and thinks he needs someone to get the double teams away from TO
  6. He trades for RW out of desperation
  7. Austin comes back and plays well
If Austin doesn't get hurt or the team continues playing like it did first 3 weeks, the choice is RW or Austin this offseason.

Now it may be between Austin and TO, based solely on age. I am nowhere near convinced the off stats will not go down significantly w/o TO, but if you get a 1st or 2nd for Austin, you take it.

Would you rather have Miles Austin or a Desean Jackson?

Is he even a FA yet technically? If not, isn't that tempering?

I wonder if BP will call JJ and ask if we want to keep and will match before driving up th price? Remember the lecture he gave Payton after he chased Davis?

Question, if we tender him for a 2nd would you take it?

depends on who makes the offer

spots 33-42 in round 2 I don't think twice about matching
spots 43-52 in round 2 I see if maybe we can work out a deal for a extra pick
spots 53-64 forget it, I match it

Miami has the Skins pick in round 2 which is the 45 so.......
