Draft Insider's Latest Mock

Could it be that we have some fans of the SEC and the old SWC here and just like the Cowboys taking those Players?, Just asking.

remember that Jerry Jones is back in control of drafting.
This "Jerry Jones is running the draft again" line is getting way overused. Ireland is here and Wade will have his say. It still comes down to JJ I know. But those past drafts in the '90's everyone needs to consider who the HC was and the scouting dept was known to be ignored.

Why pass on Reavis who's a much higher rated player and also a return specialist?.

Houston had an outstanding combine and will now be overrated.

Yes thats part of the reason!!! I am a huge fan of the SEC...But my roots are in the Big 12 and UT

See I agree with that, I just don't want to draft based on a Combine workout. Whose the Better football player, also Revis returns kicks does Houston?.

I also have Hall, Houston, and Ross rated over Revis, in that order...But havnt seen enough of Wilson to rank him over Revis...But McCauley is real close behind.....I would rate them like this so far
Hall
Houston
Ross
Revis
D. Hughes
McCauley
Wilson

Wilson's looked pretty good in the few games I have to watch. I'm stuck waiting until after the basketball tournament when ESPNU starts re-running college games to get any more on him.

Also, check out Eric Wright who transferred to UNLV. I only have a game and a half to watch him but he looks pretty good also. I really wish I had more games of his.

Wright had his work out for the Scout's today and it sounds like it want real well, he showed good hands and caught everything thrown and kicked his way.

I have absolutely no allegiance to either the Big 12 or SEC. I only really care about college football as it pertains to providing prospects to the NFL. If anything, I'm a ND fan.

And Revis isn't that good of a returner. His highlight return vs. WVA was more about the crushing block.

I'm loking at the stats and if that's correct, Houston doesn't have an Int in 29 college games.

Wilson kinda small, how about Aaron Ross, my Favorite Tanard Jackson or a sleeper like Michael Coe.

Stanley, what do you think of David Irons, CB from Auburn? IMO he's one of the top man-cover corners in this draft, anticipates routes very well, saw him in the Senior Bowl workout run the route better than the receiver he was covering, nearly coming up w/ the pick, he ran faster than expected at the Combine, 4.45

If you're going to hold drafts based on where players are ranked in September, Ernest Shazor and Milford Brown are sure fire All Pros.

Ernest Shazor!!! I remember that name, people thought he was a first day pick..that didnt happen

best player available when the turn comes or trade up if there is someone you fell in love with or someone who is falling.

I have to agree, I have always liked David Irons myself. I actually like him right behind Aaron Ross in terms of CB's will be able to draft. Would be nice to pick up Irons in the later rounds, but when does anything we really want happen when it comes to the Cowboys. :)

The bad part about Irons -- you have to keep his personality in check. He can be a bit cocky and outspoken sometimes.

I watched all of Arkansas games this year.....and I disagree.

He was solid, but far from dominating. The Razorback running game was dominating.

I can remember many of the announcers saying that the Razorback CBs allowed too many completed passes in front of them. Houston was a good player, but he never dominated.

Most look at his game vs USC and say that he held Jarrett to hardly anything. But it's not like he was locked on him one-on-one.

He's a guy with great measureables.....but those guys are found in every draft. He has POTENTIAL for sure....but he's no where near as good as everyone is making him out to be.

The Razorback CB's allowed lots of completed passes in front of them because Herring blitzed on EVERY SINGLE down. Chris Houston probably didn't have safety help on a single play the entire season. He was on an island and held up against some of the top WR's in the college game:

Dwayne Jarrett - 5 rec, 35 yards, 0 TD
Robert Meachem - 4 rec, 65 yards, 1TD
Dwayne Bowe - 5 rec, 68 yards, 0 TD
Andre Caldwell - 3 rec, 31 yards, 0TD

The latest yahoo mock has Houston going #10 to the Falcons. He's a freakishly strong CB who'd fit perfect in Wade's press man coverage schemes. I'd love to have him if he was still available at #22.

I wouldn't mind having Houston at #22. He is a lot like Newman in that he is a shut down CB that will really limit the opposing WR to few catches. However, much like Newman, he isn't a ball hawk and won't even look for the ball much. Houston doesn't generate turnovers and that is my only gripe with Newman as well.

Aaron Ross and Darrelle Revis on the other hand have much better ball skills and are both great return men. I would take Ross and Revis over Houston because of that but again, I wouldn't be upset if we got Houston instead.

It sounds like Houston maybe the next Mike Mamula, in that he works out and runs well at the Combine, but lacks production on the Field.

Houston was moving up well before the Combine with the draft people who actually watch film. Those who just copy and paste evaluations from another site to theirs and just change up a sentence here or there probably never heard of him.

He lined against three WR's who will probably go in the first round this year, and stiffled them all.
