So, does he give up all the guaranteed money the Cowboys owe him or did they buy him out? If he signed elsewhere, his contract with the Cowboys should be void (I would think).

I'm pretty sure once you are released your contract with your team is null and void. The player is free to make a deal with his new team and there are no obligations to the 'previous' team.

No, once he cleared waivers other teams did not have to take up his Cowboys' contract.

Henson has dressed for too many games to join a practice squad.

I searched for practice squad requirements and restrictions. I didn't find anything that looked official. I did see on one blog that a player has to have less than 3 years of experience and cannot have been on the active roster for more than 8 games in any season to be eligible. I don't remember if Henson was the 2nd string QB for mor than 8 games last year. As the 3rd string QB, he may have suited up, but he is officially considered inactive for the game.

It doesn't add up. Why would he sign with the Vikings practice squad today, after working out for the Dolphins only yesterday. That's not good business. Woudn't you want to wait a few days to let the Dolphins decide on whether they like you or not, before you would sign a practice squad contract? Now, if he signed with the Vikings active roster, I could see it.

Maybe the Dolphins did let him know what they thought of him. They may not have liked him at all or just for their practice squad. He shopped the next team and thought the Vikings were a better fit for him. The Dolphins have two young guys on the team with Culpepper and Harrington. The Vikes have the oldest starter in the league in Johnson and then Bollinger. Which is the better situation?

Something about roster adjusting, some moves still have to be made before Henson can be placed on the active roster... I too thought he was not eligable for a practice squad signing.

3 things,,,,, 1. Johnson is 36 years old. 2. Back up is Brooks Bollenger. 3. Tavarius Jackson was awaful in preseason and is out with a knee injury.

Good for Henson to stick , considering the point of the season.

Brad Johnson is 38.

Well, I missed on Johnson's age,,,, however, two positives for Henson in Minnesota. 1. Parcells ain't the coach. 2. Romo isn't on the roster.,,,, oh, and one more,, Parcells ain't the coach.

If the Dolphins want to sign him off the Vikings' practice squad, they can. (The Vikings would have a chance to add him to their roster first, though.) Why wouldn't he sign as soon as possible?

Really?

I cant even think of one individual that Parcells has cut that the organization later regretted.

The only person that even comes close is possibly Antonio Bryant.

oh the chaos on this forum will be even greater than i sure it was today if one day Henson becomes a very good starter in this league and we still dont have a franchise QB. i dont think it will happen but you never know

Tavarius Jackson was awaful in preseason and is out with a knee injury.

The second part is true, but Jackson had a 106 QB rating in the preseason and looked tremendous. The Vikings organization is sky high on him, and Henson will have to have a heck of a stint in there to leapfrog him.

so henson gained a toe-hold somewhere. how is this a bad thing? why begrudge the guy 'cuz he didn't work out here?

all parties would be better off to just accept it and move on.

i wish henson the best. it requires too much mental and emotional capital to do otherwise.

good luck drew. now go break a leg (in "the show must go on" figurative sense - not the joe theismann literal sense)...

Brad Johnson is a good QB. I don't see him beating him out, he needs to make it on the roster first before he can even think about something like that. He will ride the pine for the vikings for the next few years and they will see if he has anything. Brad Johnson is having a good season and fits the Vikings system very well.

Henson signs with Vikings

Todd Archer just called in to say that former Cowboy Drew Henson has signed with the Vikings. Henson had worked out the with Dolphins on Tuesday.

Good for Drew. I'm happy for him.

Hmmm, I wouldn't have thought he'd still be practice squad-eligible...
