CFZ Duece Vaughn Could End Up Being One of the Most Prolific Backs Ever

He definitely has Sproles-like capabilities, but he is an absolute liability as a blocker or in blitz pickups. And with Pollard coming off a playoff injury, I have huge concerns about RB depth on this team. Those two and Dowdle will not be enough over a long season. They should've made a harder run at Jonathan Taylor.

That’s fine..

Funny though how the team agreed with me and didn’t even need to see him in the last preseason game.

I’ll just be right again per usual.
Because he didn't play in a preseason game, that means the team agrees with you?
Bahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha!

He isn't little. He's short.
Right people think he's so much smaller than Barry Sanders and he's really not. Course Sanders was taller but their size difference isn't that big and they run a lot of like I'm not calling him Barry Sanders I'm saying people need to get off the shortness because the man can play..

BS 5'8 some say 200 i saw a lot of 189..

DV-5'5 or 5'6 180

you haven't noticed they have a lot of similarities in the style not that deuce vans built to take that many carries but they run very similarly.. And yes to all the haters or the doubters they both lose yours because they're trying to make bigger plays without getting a lot of contact just like Alvin Kamara Christian McCaffrey a lot of the other backs that with similar running styles they tend to have negative plays you know one saquon Barkley we're about to see he can be about 6 carries for 14 yards in the first half and then he breaks that 80 yarder.. That's the only way these backs get those types of numbers at the end of the years they gotta have the big play in order to up that yards per carry because they do lose a lot of yards this is not just because of ****** bond and that's what I was hurting early in training camp and preseason look he lost yards oh OK none of the other names I mentioned ever lose yards behind the line of scrimmage a lot..

Darren Sproles is the best we can hope for with Vaughn.
And even if he were 75% of Sproles, that would still be good value for where he was drafted. That would mean consistent production in the back up running back position.

His frame isn't exactly what I'm consider big though. If you look at some of the smaller backs that have had success in this league, they are short but they have the frame. Sproles for example was small, but a good bit of his weight was in his legs. Vaughn reminds me a bit like Boston Scott or Jacquizz Rogers. Good players but their size and frame will limit them from having a lot of touches.

If he ends up 75% of Sproles he’s not going to get consistent production at backup RB. Sproles only averaged around 4 carries per game over his career. One reason he never got a lot of carries was because San Diego had LaDainian Tomlinson and another reason was his size. He was used a lot in the passing game. The passing game would be the best opportunity for Vaughn to get touches.

He looks better than Sproles to me
Sproles had the talent to be a HOF bubble type of player that could hurt teams by run, receiving, and returning. Being stuck in San Diego for a few years hurt him since a good chunk of his prime was stuck behind two other great backs and by the time he got to New Orleans he was already a seasoned back at the tail end of his prime.

Watch Sproles highlights - those are pretty high expectations for Vaughn that have a great chance of leading to disappointment.

I completely disagree. Trolling is not about being positive or negative… It’s about how many people you can rile up
Lol...I can say the sky is blue and it would rile up people on this board.

He should start over Pollard then, right?

It's funny because you could say the same thing for almost any rb. If we were on a Falcons board and you said it about Bijon it would still be hard to argue. Lol
Robinson was the highest rated back in the entire draft and was the eighth overall pick. Saying that he could become an all-time great back wouldn’t be a stretch. He has all the tools including the size. It’s hilarious for fans to say Vaughn could be an all-time great back when he was a sixth round pick and is only 5‘,5“ 180 pounds at best.

Jesus. This is like some straight up fan fiction.

He’s a sixth round pick that would have gone undrafted if he didn’t have relationships in the organization.

Can we wait until he gets a season under his belt before we start the Emmitt comparisons?

This is what “prolific” looks like.
We don't do realistic talk here apparently! Please move this to another thread.

I’m sure he will make his share of plays… but you answered your own question yourself. It’s the preseason. He has never even met a team that has game planned for him yet. Some of you are trying to make a sound like he’s some invincible force. I’m sorry, but it’s just a little premature.
I don't even know if teams gameplan for the 3rd running back anyway. Vaughn fans need to first hope he is active on game days before jumping to being the most prolific RB ever. Take steps first before jumping him into the hall of Fame. Damn.

I'm skeptical. Sure would love to see him succeed!

Here's the "bear" case, glass half empty:

1) Half the playbook goes out the window when he steps on the field

2) He can't block. A blitzing Parsons would squash him like a bug.

3) Lack of power. He will be stopped at the line far too often. He can't break tackles or move the pile.

4) Limited receiving radius. Yes- he can catch really well, and do great things after, but you'll see a lot of plays where the QB cannot connect on a dump off.

People will say wait- look at what he did in college! Well this is the NFL, and players are stronger and faster. The things he did so easily in college will be far more difficult in the NFL.

Deuce will make some spectacular plays in the NFL. Highlight reel plays. I have no doubt. Ultimately, his limitations will more than offset the things he offers.

Check with me after the season is over. I'm prepared to be wrong on this, but that's the way I see it.
