The Eagles were smart to get this deal done on this final cheap year.
They were also smart to get a 5-year extension.

They were insane to pay the highest EVER contract to a guy that has had 1 plus NFL season.
Hurts had a 9-10 record in this first two seasons.
He was only a 87 QB Rating in 2021.

Last year was special but you just paid BEYOND Mahomes money.
YIKES!!!

10 years 450 but close.
It has incentives to go over 500m

Does Prescott have any leverage?
Sure he does.
His cap hit next year is 59M and his dead cap number would be 61M if they cut him.
The team is the one who needs the extension.
Dak has made an extra 50M at least being patient thus far in his career.

I haven't read through the previous 15 pages............. will someone please tell me the Dak Stans aren't on here claiming that Dak is worth that and much more? Dude can't get anywhere in the playoffs and his fans think he deserves to be the highest paid person on the planet.

Yeah, big charges for not refilling the gas tank...:lmao:

Sorry could not resist.....

Yeah, wonder what their fans think about it.
This Eagle fan is fine with it and glad it was done without dragging on and creating excess drama. That being said, I’m also confident in the Eagles front office ability to keep a competitive team assembled with this new contract.

As I said earlier only time will tell how great or horrible this deal truly is.

I would never pay a QB in today's market unless they were a bonafide future hall of fame type talent like Burrow or Herbert.

Pick one in the first round, play 4 years with them, pick up the 5th year option, turn and burn if they are good but not great. Build a contending roster around the player and just slot in the next 1st rounder. After enough tries, you should have gotten lucky and gotten one of those top guys or have won a Superbowl with a good starter on a cheap rookie deal.

Why NFL GMs are too afraid to emulate the SanFran model is very confusing to me.
The SF model isn’t a model. They berried to get QB’s and they’ve bought FA QB’s
They drafted a guy and wasted valuable draft capital and got nothing

Welcome to the "can only do bargain basement free agent deals" club, Eagles.

Hurts is a great player, but I'll laugh when they have to try to protect him with scrubs because they're salary cap strapped.

Sportrac is NOT a verified contract site. Sportrac is a fan site run by (knowledgeable) fantasy enthusiasts, as is overthecap.

Spotrac has become the largest online sports team, & player contract resource on the internet. The system was founded by Michael Ginnitti & Scott Allen in 2007 as an internal tool to facilitate fantasy sports, and answer every day questions about player financials.

There were some issues with Fletcher Cox’s contract last year on Sportrac, so some people on the eagles message board emailed the site runner and asked them what the discrepancies were from, and he basically responded, “I can’t really figure out how Howie worded that contract, it’s unusually complicated; so I made the best judgement I could to fit our system parameters.”

On their site they cite that they get all their info second hand from beat reporters and team announcements:

https://www.spotrac.com/sources-affiliates/

All these NFL insiders get contract Info directly from player agents. The third party website isn’t going to have more reliable information

Direct quote from Chris Cabott, president of Mahomes’ representing agency:

“I think that is the one thing that folks may not realize here is that the Chiefs have committed $477 million in guarantees to Patrick Mahomes. They could pay another $25 million on top of that. No one else has ever come close to that."
