As long as they don't change the way they do things they can probably still have success. Having said that there are no teams that would be dumb enough to give someone 40 million per year then change how they use them. Right?
It’s going to be interesting because the Eagles don’t draft in the first round very well so they’re going to have to build that team up as they lose talent. Might be smart to trade down from 10 and compile more picks…

Dak’s a good dude and a good QB.

Unfortunately paying good QBs like they’re elite is a recipe for not winning Superbowls.

Even if Dak won it, and I hope he does, he would be an outlier.

You would think one of these guys would accidentally win it but you just can’t take up that much cap % and expect to win a title.
Idk if you noticed but dak has had cap hits of 17, 19, and 26 mil this yr. All on his new contract. His deal has not hurt dallas' cap at all. Even played on a 38mil franchise deal in 2020. So basically he's played on a 4 yr deal worth 104mil. 26 mil AAV. He has 61 mil in guaranteed money left that will most likely be turned into a signing bonus. The best thing is that money has already been paid either when he signed that deal ir when it was restructured. Jerry just gave him a down payment t on his 3rd deal.
That 61 mil will be prorated over the length of his new deal.

For as much as fans talk about daks money, this team shows that fans have zero understanding of the way contracts are structured.

So he plays on last year of current deal and new deal takes effect in 2024 or he gets money now?
I believe signing and bonuses now.

But the cap hits and big money won’t kick in until after his rookie deal is up. Similar to Mahomes

Dak is better than Hurts and y’all know how I feel about Dak.

Casual fan can’t see that right now though because they get caught up in a stat or pff grade.
Possibly but to say that Hurts was a big reason they lost the SB is a bit of a stretch. Other than that bad fumble, he had a really good game.

Only a Cowboys homer can't admit that.

Pretty rich considering that Dak still gets bashed for the int in the Philly game even though he actually carved up one of the best defenses in the NFL with his arm.

Not get carried to first downs and tds after handing 7 to the Chiefs.
Well I never lit Dak up for that. It was a bad pass but overall he had a great game. In fact when we talked about Dak's inconsistent second half, I put the Eagles game in the "good" category.

After watching him check his coach, he made me a fan. Well deserved.
I became a fan of his when he got benched in the biggest game of his life and showed how a team player responds to adversity.
Couldn’t agree more…truly a class act. I think most people should be able to separate a class act from a crap city. When your QB has to show his coach how to be an adult, it says something about the players character. The look of disgust on Hurts face and Sirianni’s sheepish response was priceless. Kind of like when someone says I’m not mad at you, I’m just really disappointed. And the way Hirts handled the Bama situation was as mature as you will see at any level of sports.

This guy went from starting Qb at Bama, to being benched for a freshman in the National Championship game, transferring to Oklahoma, to being a Super Bowl game Qb. Just goes to show that you are going to have obstacles in your life and to not give up on yourself. good for him.

The gulf between Burrow and Hurts is massive. Have you watched a Cincy game? The throws he is capable of regularly making are incredible. He is one of those QBs that is an instant 10 win season if healthy. Thus far, he has also done most of his work running for his life behind a terrible Cincy OL. If you put Hurts behind that line, they don't even get close to the Superbowl. He is undeniably going to be one of the top QBs in the league for the next decade plus.

There is an argument to be made that Herbert is not in that upper echelon yet since he really hasn't show to be a winner yet, but I'm not sure sure that isn't because the team around him has not been quite good enough. Like Burrow he can make all the throws, but he is certainly a peg lower I agree with you there.
I see Hurts get knocked down for his talent around him….Burrow probably has the most talent in the league….he has the best receiving group and one of the better running back groups….now I don’t believe in knocking a guy for his talent because many great QBs have had talent around them….to me a all time great is what Mahomes is doing and I haven’t seen anyone sniff that yet.

And yeah y’all lose me on the Chargers argument….I’d argue they had more talent than the Cowboys last season…a 12 win team. I do think he has the tools but I thought Rivers did too. I thought Cutler did too. We haven’t really seen it yet though.

Good for him, class act.
In a lot of ways, he’s the opposite of Lamar… good to see him rewarded.

And I was expecting a team friendly deal… A 10 year deal like Mahomes… from a Cowboys perspective I am liking this deal a lot

255 million for a running QB. Lol

Cam Newton, who had more talent in his pinky than Hurt's, says hello.

Ridiculous
Lol Hurts is much better than cam newton… When you take into account what’s inside of the skull.

Can anyone on this board name the quarterbacks the last 10 years who have won a superbowl on a rookie contract? The goal is to win, not just be there. We have won a Super Bowl since the 49ers have won one. They didn’t have a QB that could make a play to win that game and he wasn’t even on a rookie contract. Mahomes May be the only one who did it in the last ten years and he didn’t do it because he was on a rookie contract. He did it last year on a second contract
