He might very possibly be traded, although I'm seriously doubting it'll be to Dallas.

Earl Thomas wants way too much and so does Seattle. Let another team overpay.

Newsflash, you have to pay money for good players. Earl is one of the best safeties in this game. He's worth the money. Our safeties are terrible. Upgrade that position and instantly this defense is legit.

Guys-he just wants more guaranteed money past this year (probably looking for $30-40M in guarantees). For his talent, that isn't crazy money. Seattle has already said that they would not talk about an extension (they want him to go on a series of franchise tags and then be out). He is not part of their long term plans as far as I can tell, which increases the likelihood of a trade. They are hoping for an injury to a team that considers itself a contender with cap room to spare and desperation from a dumb GM. Hopefully, the Cowboys can offer fair trade value if they really want ET.

Apparently Seattle wants Dallas' no. 2 pick next year for him.

While he would probably be better than any of our other safeties, there are five things to consider:

1. He's already 29 years old, and hasn't played a full 16 games either of the last two years.
2. He was on a team with players like Sherman, Bennett, Chancellor and Browner, is he really that good himself or was he good because he was on a great team? Won't know that until he plays without them.
.

You make great points but I think our defense is prety good(definitely not as good as that Peak seattle D)

That depends entirely upon what he's asking. In my opinion he's not worth that much if he insists upon what he presently asking Seattle for. He's 30 years old and isn't likely to maintain his former abilities much longer and that's assuming he still does at this time. Our safeties are not terrible. Heath is at least average and Woods is a youngster with great promise. ET will only serve to overcommit this team to financial issues it can ill afford. The FO is doing the right thing thus far. I'm hoping they don't weaken their stance. If the Seahags and ET lessen their demands greatly, they'll talk; hopefully, not 'til then.

So let me get this straight, you think that you get to decide what I'm implying?

I don't think you need me to tell you how crazy that sounds, do you?

It's quite ironic that you want to project absolute statements to other people - that they never made - while then presenting absolute statements yourself.

A staggering lack of self awareness.
I was being kind to you when I used the word, "imply". But I see now I can't extend that courtesy to you. You flat out stated...
"From all indications, the Seahawks have made it clear that they don't want - and don't intend - to give him an extension."

This is what you are wrong about. Now try to tell me you never said that and at the same time possess the integrity to preach to others about self-awareness. Hypocrite much? :muttley:

Gronk was a 2nd rounder. Jarran Reed was a 2nd rounder. Kyle Rudolph was a 2nd rounder. Joseph Linval was a 2nd rounder. Eddie Goldman, Tim Jernigan, Zach Ertz, Sefarian-jenkins, all 2nd rounders.

Seems to me as if the 2nd round is where many teams get their TE's and DT's. Witten was a 2nd.
Right, but how many times have we gambled on a 2nd round pick? And for wvery gronk theres 20 unknowns.

On the flip side, the longer this goes on and SEA just wants to be done with it, and excepts our offer :)

The last offer that was made by us was before the draft, if I'm remembering correctly. Nobody knows what we might be inclined to offer now that things have gone the way they have. If we happen to make a deal with the Hags and ET, hopefully it'll be one that we can live with. We'll see. As it now stands, we're unwilling to pay what they want. Let's see if things change, given more time and perhaps somewhat more desperation by the Seahags.

Witten was actually a 3rd rounder, although I believe it was early 3rd round

please make it stop....

I wish this would just go away. The Cowboys would be stupid to give him the contract he's looking for. The draft pick isn't really the issue here. It's the price tag that goes along with it. For a 29 year old??? I hope he goes somewhere else or stays in Seattle.

the longer the Seahawks delay the harder it is for them to get a premier pick, right now i dont think they will even get a 4th for him.

And what has the fact that Seattle hasn't given Thomas an extension say? That would be exactly what I've said.

Seattle could have given him an extension whenever they wanted to, and they've made the conscious decision not to. If that supports either your or my position, guess who's it does and guess who's it refutes?

Hint: Mine.

There's nothing stopping the Seahawks from an extension except the Seahawks. Their own actions prove my point.

You're borderline delusional.

Off the top of my head, don't the Patriots already have a pretty good pair of well-paid safeties?
I'm sure they do. It just seems that this staff cannot bring anyone over for improved production as opposed to teams like the Pats.
I think JJ has been burned too many times in the past with that strategy and taking it out on their player vetting as a whole.

I actually applaud the, for how they've handled this situation thus far.

To me, it's sure better than when they were getting robbed by these teams in deals for Joey Galloway and Roy Williams. I'll take prudence over recklessness any day.

I am not in the ET camp we dont need him.I think hes too expensive and most likely will be in the training room more often than we like. That said if he becomes a cowboy Ill cheer for him. My preference is go with the youth.

It is good to know Thomas can speak. Me thoughts were that he communicated in grunts and hand motions.

Having not done it yet is not the same as isn't going to do it. It says they don't want to reward his bad behavior or were you not listening the first time I said that? Their past and present action gives no indication of their future action despite your insistence to the contrary. Rise. repeat... your argument still does not work no matter how many times you repeat it. Do you need proof? Then please respond yet again with the same lame argument and watch it still be ineffective. Go ahead... you know you can't stop yourself. :muttley:

Say it until you're blue in the face, doesn't make it remotely true.
