Actually ive changed my mind. Lets keep zeke for a million and a truck of doritos.
Im starting yo enjoy the snowflake crybabies melting down about zeke.

Some if these same people claim we'll never win with dak, but cutting zeke will make all the difference in the world.
Funny stuff.
Translation: I want to be perceived as "right" on the internet, therefor I'm hoping my team makes an obvious wrong move that sets them back.

Imagine Zeke is on a rookie FA minimum contract, is Elliott worth a roster spot? If his salary was of no consequence would you keep him?

I'm interested in the consensus of opinions on him, based strictly on his current performance potential. Cost is irrelevant.

Your 3 game-day RB's are Pollard, a rookie to be drafted, and ???????

No, too many wasted downs. To be fair, it would be interesting to see what he has left with a coordinator who could actually scheme a run game (theoretically.)

I don't believe this team would retain Zeke and not have him be the lead dog. There are times in a game he can be very effective, but we would surpass those times and run him entirely too much.

You have come to the right ruffian on tha.
3 Game day Rbs? Pollard/Henry/Davis.
save our draft picks 1-3 for OL, NT and QB in tha order.

Exactly! It's ridiculous the scenarios people come up with to justify keeping an over the hill player. Let's just sign Michael Irvin to a minimum contract while we're at it too
Hell yeah! While we're at it we can sign Babe Laufenberg as our backup QB!

Its not that simple. Cut Zeke and his renegotiated contracts worth 10.9 million in future years goes on the 2023 cap, salary is given to Zeke immediately if Dallas releases Zeke.
Too many posters here think this is Madden and you just turn off cap penalties, LOL

Zeke has $11 million left on his contract that has to be applied to the cap, even if his base salary is zero. You cut him before June 1, you eat all $11 million this year. You do a post June 1 cut, you eat half this year and half next year, about $5.5 both years.

Now if you redo Zeke's contract to a 2 yr, $11 million deal, then its like having Zeke for free because this is what a post June 1 release would cost you on the cap. That is what posters dont seem to understand, you are paying $11 million to the cap regardless, so you can pay that and Zeke can sit home on his couch or you can pay that and have Zeke on the team, but either way you are paying that.

Ahhh.... Henry. The RB they should have taken in that draft. I like your lineup, but what's that gonna cost? Henry won't come cheap.
It would be nice to save the higher draft picks for other positions though, and I like the idea of improving both lines!

The real question
Zeke on a vet min contract
Since that’s actually possible
To me, I’d rather take my chances on hitting a solid rookie in the draft in the middle rounds

Under that scenario, I definitely keep him, but he gets converted to a FB. He plays lead blocker, catches the occasional pass out of the backfield, plays ST and gets some short yardage work. My game day RBs are Pollard, Davis and drafted rookie, Zeke at FB. He doesn't have the juice to be a HB, but has potential to be a ProBowl FB.
NO such thing as free in that scenario 15 teams take him right now. Including the Cowboys. however if they keep him he wont be free..so another hate post took a wrong turn.

on that contract yes....But he wouldnt be the starter at all and i would make that VERY clear Pollard if fully ready to go is getting 90% of the touches
Lol if he’s on that contract I’m pretty sure he’d know he’s not the starter

On a cheap deal I keep him. He still accounted for 12 TD on the season 3rd most from RB. However I would not start him but at a low cost I would still use him. Should Cowboys just move on, I would have no issue with it.

Your premise is nonsequitur because it is not the reality of the situation. You can not separate the price paid to make Zeke a Cowboy from the performance. These two factors go hand in hand. He would not have given this performance for free. So if your goal is data, don't invalidate it with the stipulation you have laid out.

That’s a great idea. I least I know that Michael Irvin won’t quit on a route

This is simply a discussion about talent & abilities. It is about opinions of his future level of performance, and how that might compare to the alternatives.

There are plenty of other threads about the financial trade-offs involved.

But doing this doesn't accomplish anything. Zeke is not going to perform as well working for free so you can't ignore the money aspect of it and pretend you get the same performance.
