It sounds like a great idea on the surface....but if any of us were to agree to that, how many of us would bother to really bust our butt to get, and remain in tip top shape...human nature just doesn't reason that this would happen.

He could come with extra cap space and I wouldn't want him back. He's shot. I want those 10-15 touches a game to go to a player with something left in their legs.

Imagine Zeke is on a rookie FA minimum contract, is Elliott worth a roster spot? If his salary was of no consequence would you keep him?

I'm interested in the consensus of opinions on him, based strictly on his current performance potential. Cost is irrelevant.

Your 3 game-day RB's are Pollard, a rookie to be drafted, and ???????
HELLS-BELLS, he'd be one of the 53 on the roster. He's got good hands and can lay broke crushing blocks and he's not bad picking up those hard-to-get yards! Also, he's a dam good teammate!

Well if we are going to play fantasy football contracts how about we pay him a penny a play....lol.....face it the dude is done, let him ride off into the sunset like every other RB at the end of his career.

Pollard nor Davis is an every down back.
If Zeke is released, they must draft a RB in the top 3 rounds.

Why first 3 rounds? I am pretty sure they can find a good blocking back in round 4-7 or as a free agent that will do fine. Why pay Zeke even as a vet minimum to stay on the roster just to block? Pay someone truly nothing (rookie) that does it well. It's not rocket science.

I remember the preseason game against Seattle in 2016 when Zeke tried to run over Kam Chancellor and saying to myself this guy thinks he's invincible. He and Marion Barber both had this "indestructible" complex about themselves, and it shortened they're careers.

I get it.. but he'd still view him as a progress stopper. Any young back out there can do what he does. Or perhaps rather, we can sign a young back that does the goal line/1yard thing and probably give more than that.

for what point and to what end? first of all, he's a vet and will never see a rookie FA contract. now, even at a vet minimum, the questions remain.

for what point and to what end?

we know pollard can carry the load. there's no reason to think last years injury will stop him from repeating the performance. why force splitting time with a less productive back because he was "cheap"?

Pollard, davis (who averaged 4.2 ypc with what opportunities he's gotten) and draft someone. we're good. zeke is a familiar name but will yield familiar numbers to what he's done lately, not as a rookie.

let him go, use the $ elsewhere.

move on.

Concensus is we want Zeke gone no matter how you slice it. Pollard, a Rookie, Davis and/or UFA.

It's a discussion purely about his current abilities.

For example, which combo is better based only on performance, for only next season:

Pollard
Davis
Rookie to be drafted

or

Pollard
Elliott
Rookie to be drafted

Nope, I'd cut him in camp. I wouldn't give Zeke carries, and he's too slow to be a KR or gunner.

on that contract yes....But he wouldnt be the starter at all and i would make that VERY clear Pollard if fully ready to go is getting 90% of the touches
likes already been said thats insane pollards NOT THAT type of back..you iss the fact thew last 6 games 4 rs 2 playoff polard had ZERO TDs.. his explosiveness slowed down as the season wore on.. he literally averaged 3.8 YPC 51 YPG and no tds the last 4 regular season games plus out with an inury in one of them plus out with an injury in the 9er game..

hmm...guess why...work load, long season went up, production went down. sorry thats reality always has been with him and backs like him..we saw Kamara suffer when ingram left.. seen Cmac break down when over used in Carolina..pollard can not take more snaps than last year that good number for him.. need to be part of backfield 2-3 back rotation and that when we will see those long runs for tds.

No chance. Jerry would force us to give him more Carrie’s. Even for free he needs to go.

The OL must open those holes as well. And the OC needs to know not to run the ball into a stacked box of 8 defensive players.
Pollard had no issues.

My good you’re still defending the horrid zeke.

Under that scenario, I definitely keep him, but he gets converted to a FB. He plays lead blocker, catches the occasional pass out of the backfield, plays ST and gets some short yardage work. My game day RBs are Pollard, Davis and drafted rookie, Zeke at FB. He doesn't have the juice to be a HB, but has potential to be a ProBowl FB.
