Actually ive changed my mind. Lets keep zeke for a million and a truck of doritos.
Im starting yo enjoy the snowflake crybabies melting down about zeke.

Some if these same people claim we'll never win with dak, but cutting zeke will make all the difference in the world.
Funny stuff.

Imagine Zeke is on a rookie FA minimum contract, is Elliott worth a roster spot? If his salary was of no consequence would you keep him?

I'm interested in the consensus of opinions on him, based strictly on his current performance potential. Cost is irrelevant.

Your 3 game-day RB's are Pollard, a rookie to be drafted, and ???????

I want a solid, productive running back that is still quick enough to hit holes before they close, not a free one who can no longer play at a high level.

You ignore the inconsistent o line, an oc not committed to run game, hc unwilling to step in. Pollards lack of real success up the middle (had to freqently showcase his speed to the edge, remember that?), and even tony fell off late in the year with several 2.5 ypc games.

But...all zekes fault hes toast.
Sure.
Lol Zeke is done playboi, I'm sorry you bought his jersey

The OL must open those holes as well. And the OC needs to know not to run the ball into a stacked box of 8 defensive players.

I would keep Zeke if by some miracle they could renegotiate down to 3ish million/year. Otherwise, I bite the bullet and just outright release him this offseason in order to work toward getting this contract off the books.

The problem with paying Zeke anything more than the minimum is that it forces the organization to actually give him the preponderance of the snaps. He isn't worth that.

Thats the one issue with doing what is actually the best for the teams cap and draft picks, FOR THIS YEAR only cutting Zeke's base salary to save 4 mill vs outright cutting him is the best IF AND ONLY IF they understand he needs 5 to 10 touches a game in short yardage or goaline carries...I'm not sure they could do it either.

If this team could effectively run against a stacked box, it would be dangerous!

I don't care if he paid Jerry. It's time to move on and find a young RB who can be dangerous from anywhere on the field.

Of course….but come on…Elliott no longer has any type of burst and it’s been that way for some time now.

It’s not a knock on him, it’s just the nature of the position. Many, many recent backs go from the top picks in fantasy drafts to out of the league in no time.

If the decision is based on football it’s a no contest. If it’s about jersey sales and Jerry wanting to be buddies with certain players, then he shouldn’t be shocked when they fail yet again when it counts most.

on that contract yes....But he wouldnt be the starter at all and i would make that VERY clear Pollard if fully ready to go is getting 90% of the touches
NOT 90% !
Pollard would be kaput by Halloween.
I'd like a Run/Pass ratio of 50/50 (+/- 5%) for him on the field.
#20's workload should not exceed 2/3rds of the Cowboys' backfield production during the 2023 season; make it less if the others on the RBBC (Malik Davis/Rico Dowdle, vet FA + mid-to late round draft pick(s) + UDFA) perform early on and often.
Want a kickass Tony Pollard come January 2024.
