Elliott for Free

Why first 3 rounds? I am pretty sure they can find a good blocking back in round 4-7 or as a free agent that will do fine. Why pay Zeke even as a vet minimum to stay on the roster just to block? Pay someone truly nothing (rookie) that does it well. It's not rocket science.
Big drop off in starter talent after the 1st 3 rounds. Pretty much luck after that. Well it is all luck really.

Under that scenario, I definitely keep him, but he gets converted to a FB. He plays lead blocker, catches the occasional pass out of the backfield, plays ST and gets some short yardage work. My game day RBs are Pollard, Davis and drafted rookie, Zeke at FB. He doesn't have the juice to be a HB, but has potential to be a ProBowl FB.

I mentioned nothing of any player. I was stating a fact. No matter who is the RB.
Zeke still rent free in your head.
I had to go check that...and nope. Nothing about a player.

Roy is the same guy making excuses for Dak by bad mouthing the oline. But not for zeke?

This is what Zeke Hate does to your brain people. It's real. :muttley:

Pollard can't handle that many carries. Man, you know that.

For the 50th time I'll say it again:
There aren't "bell cows" in the league anymore. Every team with maybe 1 exception is running-back-by-committee.

NO bud, you insinuated that Zeke was running poorly because the Oline wasnt opening up holes for him.

Pollard had little issue as he was 3rd in the NFL In YPC.

Time to get over your boy Zeke. He's done and needs to go. Not sure why you struggle with admitting that fact.

Imagine Zeke is on a rookie FA minimum contract, is Elliott worth a roster spot? If his salary was of no consequence would you keep him?

I'm interested in the consensus of opinions on him, based strictly on his current performance potential. Cost is irrelevant.

Your 3 game-day RB's are Pollard, a rookie to be drafted, and ???????
Of course he’s on your roster. Jeez.

What kind of question is this?

12 TDs 0 fumbles
One of the best pass blocking RBs & short yardage RBs in the league. Yeah let’s take a random undrafted RB instead - dumb.
It’s The Zone. You’ll see the dumbest things here.

if he puts on lets say 10 pounds. it won't slow him much more than he is alreay. make him a full back. yeah, that could work. not quite in the mold of Johntson, because he can lead block into a hole, but pass catching, pass blocking, some running.

As you’ll see OP, some ppl are like fatal attraction obsessed with zeke.

sometimes you just need to reset the position

FWIW - I have never had a problem w Zeke the player

Yep...when Johnston played there were actual holes. And pancakes on a regular basis. GOOD CALL!

This is the kind of idiotic "expertise" that makes people disrespect us. Cowboy roy trounces around bullying and insulting people....because they don't agree with him. He BandM's about Dak's offensive line being bad...but Zeke's isn;t? Come on people wake up.

The truth of the matter is Pollard and Zeke had different roles, different plays. A simple seasonal YPC...does indeed favor Pollard. It has ALWAYS with ANY #2 RB at Dallas. Usually they are even more obscene than Pollards, and should garner concern. Not that Tony isn't our #1RB but why HIS YPC isn't like 8-10. Like so many #2 before him.

Also concerning is why he had a few 2.5 ypc games late in the year.

Truth of it is...if Zeke really is done.....fine. But you better concern yourself with some other metrics as well. Two things can be true at the same time.

No I don’t think he’s worth a roster spot and I’m going off of what the team has stated they want to do. If McCarthy wants more effective running, as he’s stated, then I want the potential of someone who might be effective in actually running the ball. I’d take potential and unknown over what Zeke is showing.

To me it would all depend on the RB we could get in the draft. If they can draft a top RB in the 2nd or 3rd round then l think that's the way to go. I take the young, hungry guy over Zeke if it's at the same price...

He's a terrific short yardage back and goalline TD machine, a terrific blocker and (I guess?) a good leader. He doesn't play special teams.

Is that worth the vet minimum? Maybe.

But will his pride allow him to play for the minimum? Unlikely. So we should probably move on.
