News: ESPN Analyst Has Blunt Message For Dak Prescott, Cowboys

I guess that some fans aren’t able to measure if a QB is good enough to win a championship until they have? Lol

Sorry, but that’s Trolling.

Either that or you have no instincts , insight or able to analyze or evaluate QB who are capable of winning a championship until they do.
What do you believe Dak needs around him to win a Super Bowl?

Do you think he needs elite talent everywhere at all times or do you think he is capable of beating playoff teams when everything isn't going his way?

There’s QB in NFL history I’d describe as much better than him that didn’t sniff a championship and those who weren’t as good who did.

If you’re not a HOF caliber talent you need a strong supporting cast. Do I think we’ve had enough on both sides of the ball, on the sidelines and in the booth. No!!

I haven’t seen a championship caliber team with a Star on their helmet since mid 1990’s.

What we do know is he’s good enough to reach a divisional round in the playoffs within this dysfunctional organization, wacky coaching situation and without a top 10 caliber defense. That’s enough to build around.

Fair enough. You're much more realistic about it then most are and I respect that.

But to answer your question , I think we have over invested on offense . I’d focus more on building a top 10 defense. Paying top money to QB, RB and WR is an imbalance to building an overall strong team.

It doesn’t matter if we put up 30+ points if we can’t hold opponents under 30 points. As always balance is key.

And I think our ownership is more interested in fielding a flashy offense which attracts advertisers, sponsors as well as fringe and fantasy fans .

And why being #1 in Revenue appears more of a priority than on the field. This doesn’t even take into consideration how his meddling with poor coaching decisions and control along with his risk in drafts and overall Mgmt has hindered football operations.

This dysfunctional franchise has so many weaknesses. I certainly don’t believe QB is our greatest concern.

Yeah if I'm building a team I'm not having a high paid offensive line and running back. To me I Think you can build a offensive line without it being highly paid.

You’ll find theres many more reasonable Cowboy fans. I butt heads with the Dak Homers and really all Homers too.

But if you want to prevent coming off like a Troll since you are afterall coming into a Cowboy site where you’d expect more sensitivity coming after our QB, I’d suggest providing some of the more positive things he brings instead of a continued bashing. You will come off more of a balanced critic than a troll.

Yep, and if you do have a higher paid OL perhaps don’t need a highest paid RB.

Great post. Then they went through the phase of not being able to hit on later round offensive lineman so they over invested number one draft picks on o lineman. The Pats were winning Super Bowls with late round and free agent o lineman. The ownership doesn’t know how to pay to build a balanced team and it hurts the depth. And the failure to get real safeties for the defense these last 10 years is beyond dumb.

I always say that if the Cowboys win another Super Bowl with Jerry in charge it will be in spite of him.

We never sustain success. We have flash in the pan type of years. We're not the type of organization that can keep building on a good season.

Our teams in those flash in the pan success years are often perceived as very talented when it’s basically all been on the offense .

Great offenses often run it up on average to below average teams and struggle against better teams . And why our struggles in playoffs.

Even the greater QB’s for the most part this era have had greater runs when their defenses are stronger.

And I’d argue the reason we can’t build on those success is due in part to our leadership at the top. He’s a follow the ball GM.

Instead of properly addressing our weaknesses that prevent us from advancing further he rewards what took us that far. He operates thru the eyes of a fan.

You are exactly right. I cant argue that.

Fair enough.

But at least two interviews I've seen with him were on regrets on not winning a SB. One was the one I mentioned above, the other was an interview on his early 1984 Super Bowl Loss. In that interview, he said something to the effect that he was just starting out and he had already made it to the Super Bowl, only to lose to the 49ers. He thought he would be back and have plenty more chances. He regretted it because he could not have known that that would be his only shot to even get back to the Super Bowl.

So, while I believe he might have said that he was happy, I don't believe he doesn't regret not winning one. He just brings it up too often. I think any great player would regret not winning a championship.
Thank you for the clarification my cowboy brother

Dak is who he is: an extremely overpaid above average QB. Expecting him to suddenly change that is fools gold. Jerry paid him so the Cowboys can “stay relevant” so he can keep selling the dream, not because he thinks Dak will lead us to a SB
He is an above average quarterback. Overpaid know. He’s where he should be . And I agree Jerry micromanaging is the issue
