Regardless of what Jones said, his reaction to it was childish. I do not care who said what. All we know is he got upset, we do not know if it was the hard news of a demotion, or being called out on the radio by the owner. All we have is him skipping a workout and behaving unprofessionally.

Honestly, if that is his mentality, he's as weak minded as can be and has no business being a CB in the NFL.

This pretty much guarantees we will be drafting a corner and keeping Carr next season.

No, I would let him play because (a) He's still young (b) He's coming off a good camp (c) He's coming off some injury issues following the good camp (d) You have invested a #6 overall in the guy (e) YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH THE SAME THING WITH SUBSTITUTIONS in a game without PUBLICLY killing what confidence he has left. That's how I think they should have dealt with it. Just play him fewer snaps and pick where you want to put him in as the game goes on.

I agree with you about him bolting. You may well be right about his mental make up. You may also be right in that it may have had nothing to do with the owner's comments. But if his mental make up IS that weak, and you have any DESIRE or HOPE of salvaging the player, you better know how to manage him.

I seriously doubt Jerry's quote had anything to do with his reaction to getting demoted. Frustration with his own play probably had more to do with it than anything.

Sometimes people have to bottom out before they can become humble and realize what they need to do to be what they believe they can be or should be.

Unfortunately, getting cut and using that as ammo to see the light and come back at their best is what it takes for some players. I can't think of any occasions this has happened with the team that player was drafted by.

Its starting to look like this is the path he's going to have to take if he's ever going to be a player in this league.

Damn I hate to hear that. If anybody gets injured it's gonna put Claiborne back into the starting lineup. And how do you think he's gonna feel knowing it's only because the guy ahead of him is hurt? He's gonna be passed off and unmotivated. I.e. Mike Jenkins his last year here

I agree with you that he already knew how poorly he was playing. Which is why I would argue Jones had no need to say anything. Ever had someone say out loud what you already knew about yourself and was eating you up? If Mo knew about the Jones interview, it may explain his reaction. If he didn't know about it, then maybe he just didn't take the demotion well. Either way it is behind us now. Scandrick and Sterling Moore need have a very good game for us to have a chance.

I know what you're saying Dave, but at some point a "kick-in-the-pants" is warranted.

The guy has been soft. I can't think of any other word that describes him better than that. And his behavior after being demoted falls right in line with that.
