I don't see that. Typically, you get some really good rookie players all over the NFL. Last year, for example, in addition to Martin you had guys like Chris Borland and Mike Evans, and ODB, and Aaron Donald and Barr and Corey Fuller. Jernigan and Ellis in OAK were both contributors and both added after the 1st round. WAS picked up that middle round CB who was really good in the games we played them. And that OC that the stupid Packers picked up. Derek Carr looked like a keeper, too.

Just for the Cowboys last year, both Martin and Hitchens did more than flash. Martin was All Pro and Hitchens played all three LB positions and a fairly high level, including calling plays for the entire defense for a couple of games. The year before both Frederick and Williams gave us instant lift. Other players like Randle and Lawrence and Escobar from recent drafts are flashing talent and just coming into their own (hopefully) after a year or two on the roster. I agree that that obviously happens, too, but I think most of us would say at this early point that we've got higher expectation for the top three or four players in this incoming class than we did in either 2013 or 2014. I see no reason not to expect an immediate contribution from several of them.

Awesome post! I agree with all your points. I'm especially pumped to see Lee back. According to Nick Eatman, Demarcus Lawrence looks like a completely different guy (physically). I know we're all optimistic cowboys fans on here, but I haven't been this excited since the offseason after 13-3 in 2007.

I foresee a six sack season from him

I think much more from the left side myself.

The bigger issue will be how he controls the TE blocking schemes from that side.

Adding weight makes a lot of sense.

I sense injury possibilities interfering with keeping our best talent on the field.

This means a lot of defensive line rotation from Mincey, Hayden and whomever.

I see strong improvement if Hardy only has a 2-4 game suspension.

If more I see a lot less improvement.

He is way too slow to play the right side. I was really angry when we picked him in the 2nd and introduced him as a pass rushing DE. His lack of quickness was already known in his college carrer.

But i do think he could pan out at LDE or occasionally at the 1-tech. He already bulked up a bit. With Gregory at RDE we could have a nice pair of ends for years to come.

He ran a 4.6 in the 40. So I don't think he's as slow as you implied.

As for quickness, he isn't Randy Gergory quick. But that doesn't mean his not quick.

Marinelli stated that Lawrence as one of the best natural passrusher's in the draft that year. I'll go with what he said.
